Post subject:  Hose for air filter box

Hi all,
New member here and looking for a little help with my 1982 944.

When I bought it there was a cone type air filter on it, and I want to bring it back to standard. I sourced an air box and have bought a filter for it, but it looks like I might be missing a hose. It goes from the side of the airbox, and my best guess is that it goes to timing belt cover as there's a similar looking outlet there. I'm guessing it's a breather hose or something.

So the question is... do I need the hose, and if so, can you still buy them from Porsche?

The hose your missing should actually be missing! Porsche did a modification where that pipe was blanked off to prevent the engine hydrolocking, if you were to be driving through deep water the fear was the timing belt may carry water upwards and pass it into the airbox causing catastrophic engine damage.

There is a more detailed answer by Jon Mitchell on this forum somewhere, if you do a search you should be able to find it.
