Just to say really and ask if anyone knows of a compatible cheeper product...
I had to get in touch with my local OPC today for a brake pad retaining kit (spring and pins) as the one in one of my callipers was totally dead, well the spring disintegrated but I almost hit the floor when I heared the cost £55 for two nails and a bit of folded metal.
Anyway if you know of a comparable product cheaper please let me know as I would like to change all four corners!

Duncan.

They're not the same as a Golf :( I too spent some time trying to find a suitable replacement but had no joy, I ended up paying £55. I may have a couple of old pins available if they're any good to you? Unfortunately mine had no spring plates fitted at all when I bought the car so I don't have any old ones available.

the best way is to find out what other cars the calipers were fitted to by checking out the brembo or ate or whatever part number you can find on the casting or metal bits.

bit of reverse engineering is required sometimes

Hi Duncan, I am not sure which model you require the pins for, but the standard (2 pot caliper) 944 pin kit is around £44 for an axle set (that's 4 nails and assorted bits!). Try Design 911 as they stock them. I recall that is where I got mine, the front kit is different to the rear slightly and they have both. However, if you have an S2 or Turbo...then prices are higher :(

Try this link: http://design9114-px.rtrk.co.uk/fu/pt66_984_-cma81-cmo123/Porsche/944-1982-91/Pin-Kit-and-Guide-Plates/

Duncan,

I have some ATE spares, pins and pad retaining plates, let us know what type of calipers you have?

Andy, thanks for the offer but the ones from OPC turned up today and I don't feel as violated as I did as the price was for the axle! So yes expensive but not too expensive. So again I have been surprised by Porsche Nottingham, the first was when I rocked up in my works scruffs to pick up some odds and sods and I was treated better than you would be in any of the cheaper car manufaturers dealerships, even offered drinks, paper etc while they sorted my order!
