There is an occasional whiff of the expensive stuff in the car? I have checked the cap under the rear carpet and that seems fine. Next suspect is fuel breather pipe I guess but anyone know how to get to it?
thanks
Alex

Well in that case I made a discovery yesterday that "may" be of interest. I noticed that the filler cap is a Porsche one that doesn't breathe.it doesn't need to because it breathes out off the petrol breather pipe which can leak fumes into the cabin.yesterday I tried swapping it for the cap on the other halves mx5 which is vented.no fumes. Only did 80 miles but it would make sense. It can breathe out the cap easier than the breather pipe. 2 minute fix if it works.
Also this morning I did some stuff to the rear lights and took up the rear hatch carpet. There are quite a few homes withrubber bungs missing. One real beauty right under the spare wheel which could let in fumes a treat.
Check both.might work and might save about a days hassle.

Cool. Where do you order parts like that from? The proper porsche place isn't fussed on taking small orders I don't think. They never got back to me in a hatch seal price let alone a rubber plug....:-)

I suppose I should have said, some months ago a friend of mine who,s in the trade, said, this is going to sound daft, but try leaving the petrol cap loo,s, and presto, the fumes have stopped, but, on hot day after driving, i would,nt want to put a lit fag near the cap for a while.

Question, down the passengers side foot well, next to heater, there,s a thing that looks rheostat with no nob on it,just spindle, 2 wires and rubber pipe coming out of it, not fixed, just floating, held in place by carpet, first I thought it may be something the do with radio, but no,any ideas what it is.
