I really like the look of the 924 Turbo vented badge panel and always wanted to fit one to my 951. Done properly, it suits the 951 so well and looks like it could be stock. Sure, I appreciate it's not for everybody and it is arguable that it improves or hinders performance.. I am not bothered about that, I m doing this purely for aesthetics. If I find there is any negative impact on performance then I can blank the vents off from the rear if need be. Still work in progress (beginning of the project rather), but I have overcome the hardest part of this mod already - sourcing a 931 nose and the hardest part, a set of four vents! I found a 931 panel on ebay (Thanks Porsch-apart/9-apart!) and was lucky to find a set of vents on ebay.de (- my wife translated, searched for Lüftungsgitter). The easy part was a spare 951 badge panel there was no problem sourcing that. Note, I will be preserving my original badge panel in case I sell the car at a later date, I can put it back to stock. 931 panel arrived today! (pictured beside my S2) ![]() Still waiting on the 951 panel arriving and then vents coming from Germany, I have a local bodyshop lined up to do the fabrication work. I'm already £303 in parts, I reckon the bodyshop will be £150-£200, then another £150 or thereabouts in paint and fitting. So this is turning out to be quite an expensive mod! I hope it'll be worth it! Not posted any pics of my 951 yet, the car is in storage... here are a few, sorry about the dust..! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will update with all progress accordingly! Thanks for looking! |

Job will go something like this.. 931 nose and cut out the vents.. ![]() cut out same section from 951 nose.. ![]() fabricate in the vents to the 951 nose.. ![]() ..and it should look like this when done! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A lot of people poo poo this idea, common thoughts are that it does not improve air flow to the inter cooler and in fact may hinder it. I also have one of these panel in progress, all the holes are cut and bent into shape and i'm just renovating the plastic grilles as the set I have had previously been painted a couple of times. Once its done i'm planning a change of intercooler for something that's more free flowing which I will try and box in and re direct the original intake area to cool the radiator leaving the new vents to feed the inter cooler (this winters project) I'm about to fit an intake temp sender to get some sort of before and after readings but at the end of the day the main reason for me fitting the vented panel is purely for aesthetic reasons. |

I know it's not for everyone. But I like it.. I am aware it may hinder performance (or not), if I see any negative impact in performance I can easily box the vents off at the rear to stop airflow. I'm just doing this because I love the look and think it suits the car really well. I'm keen to hear of any progress you have with yours! Pics too! |

Now the chap I bought it from did all new suspension, he was overloading me with information so I cant remember the details, it is Koni, adjustable top and bottom (rebound and bump). He was saying it cost a fortune and it was all this and it was all that. Unsure exactly, but the literature I have says.. "These are special shock absorbers made for development work on proto type cars and for racing. The rebound and bumps forces can adjusted independently without removing from the car. For some applications these shock absorbers can be made with aluminium barrels and some aluminium internal parts. To save weight." ..then it goes onto to explain how to adjust them. I have no idea if they are simply (new) stock M030 items or a further upgrade. It seems low.. but it drives A1..not a bone shaker at all it is heavy, flat and firm and still absorbs everything. |

Will get some pics up as the work progresses, I got a quote for paint the other day. Other little projects will be Kree headlight bulb kit and something similar for the candle powered side lights. |

If you leave the stock IC to bumper air duct in place behind the badge panel then their should be no loss in efficiency. Crack on. However you will have the two outer vents clash with the inner metal between the IC and light pods. Had to push the two triangular section outwards to avoid this clash as per below. Yes its a 924, but it has 944 turbo panties under the pretty 924 turbo dress ![]() |

I read something different to that, it mentioned that the difference in air speeds caused the air coming through the vents to stall and therefore have no real added advantage hence my plans to redirect it where possible. |

That's the case if you don't use the stock 944 front bumper to IC duct to direct air into and through the IC. The hole in the bumper is smaller than the front of IC and the air slows before hitting the front of the IC. |

Thanks carrera rsr, that's good info. I have read conflicting opinions about airflow disruption and or benefits, so it seems there is no definitive answer. I can see the little triangle bits that need bent inwards you mention, shouldn't be a problem I hope. Excellent Scott.. Delighted to hear you are doing the same mod! |
