Hi, I need to test the pressure on my fuel rail in my long running saga to get my car to rev above 1600rpm...

I've bought a tester kit but true to form it doesn't have a M12x1.5 female adapter to fit the connection on the fuel rail. One connector came very close but no cigar.

I've looked high and low and cannot find anything to connect to the fuel rail and then to my testing kit & gauge. The female connector on the end of the hose (from the gauge) is 7/16UNF.

So I guess I would need an adapter that was M12x1.5 female to 7/16UNF male - or something to that effect.

head off to your local Pirtek shop they will help im sure

other alternative is to pop to a central heating and plumbing supplier get a 6 bar pressure gauge 1/4" middle back connector( whats printed on box) and a female to female adapter to fit said gauge 1/4" .(and bit ptfe tape) just screw on gauge then screw onto rail
I looked at the injection pump things as well and opted for the cheep option took off the cap found a bolt that fitted it and went down said heating shop think about £7 all in .
worked for me
held ball bearing in with plasticine while i took cap down plumbing shop

Before you go off on a red herring (although of course it could be a fuelling issue) have you checked your rotor arm and cap yet? My Turbo would sometimes idle fine but refuse to rev and attempt to cut out whilst at other times barely idling. After seeing the state of my rotor arm and cap I briefly cleaned them and it is made quite a difference (touch wood the problem has not returned and it seems to drive a little more responsively in addition to coming onto boost significantly smoother as well).

AlpineTurbo the dizzy and rotor are new and clean to the eye still.

What brand are they?

On countless cars I have seen 'new' rotor arms cause more issues than they solve. Intermotor seem to be a favourite for being rubbish.

A respected specialist is adamant that Beru rotor arms and caps can be a problem, with Bosch being a far better buy.

Hi David - I just tried that and it made no difference. Will not rev above 1600rpm.

How would that make a difference?

If the vent in the fuel tank is blocked, could be causing a vacuum in the tank.

Seeing as the two rotor arms which broke recently were Beru arms he would seem to have a point. I know that on other cars however you have to be careful with Bosch parts as well (for my daily in the diesel form they sell two qualities).
