The S2 is finished - well, for the moment at least. I was working on it still right up to the last minute with the AFM on the bench at midnight and the ferry booked for 13:00 the next day, but all is well(ish) and the old girl has so far hauled us down to Annecy via Geneva in just over a day's driving.

Stopped in Reims for the first night and visited the old grandstand at the Circuit de Gueux. It's a fantastically atmospheric place and well worth a stop if you're anywhere close.

So, almost a thousand miles in the first day of the tour - not bad I think given how close to the scrapper it was!

The only niggles I have are that the cooling fans are running all the time after spending two hours in nose-to-tail traffic in Geneva yesterday, and the AFM is still f*cked and will only let the engine run cleanly over 3k rpm, but other than that it's all great!

We probably have another 1500/2000 miles to go, hopefully incident free! Now we're off to the Porsche centre at Annecy to see if they have either a relay or radiator thermo switch - why can't GSF or EuroCarparts have branches down here !!

Cheers

Greg

Well done! Shortly after owning my 944, I decided to do a full front end service: belts, seals, pump etc, all in the week before a tour of the West Country. After making a few mistakes and repeating the job 3 times, I too drove over 1000 miles without any testing.
