Took my 944t on its first ring trip earlier this week. Very impressed with handling and overall performance. Apart from a burnt out rotor arm, the car behaved itself. We clocked up 850 odd miles return journey and car drove effortlessly apart from when the rotor broke down... I've recently had brakes overhauled with PFC pads & pagid discs. Also new rear shocks, new tyres and lots of other stuff.. I did not push too hard on the ring for fear of crashing, but the handling and braking were superb... If you have not yet been, get yourself over there.

We stayed in the Lindner hotel. Its the official ring hotel, and for 1 night is worth treating yourself to some luxury. For 2 people we paid £120 b&b. Dinner was around 30 euros, and ring lap was 27 euros. Spent around £160 on fuel (unleaded 95ron is dearer in BE/DE than UK!!)

Here are some pics;

We see this prototype. Rear lights resembled panamera. Anyone have any idea what it might be?

The car looks great! How was the tourist day for traffic? On my 'ring two trips it hasn't been too bad but I know others who've queued for long periods just to get on track only for it to be so traffic heavy it would be dangerous to press on.

I'm looking forward to taking the 944, once I get to know her characteristics a bit better.

Thanks James,

We had no traffic whatsoever! Bought a ticket, and we were on the track within 10mins... I barely know my car, and whimpishly took it on the ring. Had a few butterflies just before, but once the right foot was planted the adrenalin kicked in! I didn't push that hard as I was claiming my "ring wings". Definitely a worthwhile trip. So much so that me and a large group of mates are going in mid october.

Very nice !

I remember seeing 3 accidents in my first lap :?
Honda 2000 pushing hard overtook me, ended up in the gravel 2 turns later
BMW touring (had stickers and some raceprep) pushing hard ended up in the wall a few turns later
Lotus elise pushing too hard ended up flipped 3-4 mins later.

The ring is not easy to drive fast on. Its best to take it easy at the begining and enjoy the fast road.

Far too many people go to the ring chasing the sub 10' but when you're there you realise how "on it" you have to be to make sub 10' happen you have to know the place very well. Get yourself a PS3 and GT5 for learning where the bends go. Well done for keeping it sensible on your first trip :thumbright:

It seems that you had a great time! It's a good circuit to drive eh?

On another note, your rotor arm had me giving the ignition system of my car a once over today along with other smaller jobs. I shall report more about this in the 'What have you done' section of this forum :).

Glad you enjoyed it, it's a great track/area that easily gets under the skin of any discerning petrol head! I was there a couple of days before you I think; my second trip to the ring but my first in the 944 (I did my first in an mx5) and a few weeks later I'm still buzzing and planning my next trip :)

If and when you go again I'd really recommend that you get away from NuroDisney and there are some great places to stay in the area, with my personal favourite being in Adeneu. It's a lovely little town with some great hotels (we stayed at the RingVilla this time and I'll definitely be staying there again!), restaurants and shops and has a nice relaxed rural town feel but has the benefit of amazing cars driving around/parked everywhere. As a bonus the road to and from the ring is great fun and there's a petrol station on your way. Having now walked around the NuroDisney complex I'd rather not hand my money to that abomination as the locals are much more deserving, but that's just me.

There were a few 951's lapping when we were there and I had a few good chats with a German fella who had literally just bought one and driven it there with his boys for a shake down. Interesting that he was telling me that we have a much better deal on our little island with regards to spares as strangely old Porsches aren't as well supported on the mainland... I also bumped into another Brit who had just collected a German 997 GT2-RS and had called by the ring for a few laps before taking it back home to blighty, what a machine!

I don't want to steal your thunder, but here's a few pics from my trip:

And a couple more self explanatory shots:

Looks like you had fun and some good pics there. I know Adenau. Im staying there in mid october with some mates. its turning into a lads holiday, as we currently have 13 cars booked on the tunnel!

Looks like you had your car photographed at the same place as me.. We were there monday/tuesday. It was dry during our ring time, but otherwise it pee'd down the whole time...

The road from the ring entrance to Adenau has a couple of hairpins. They were good fun in the wet.... I will put some pics up after the next trip...

If anyone ever fancies a trip out to the ring, I'm game and can usually go at very short notice as long as I have no kids
