Rocker cover gasket is leaking on my 2.7 '944 .is it an easy fix

Nope, as it requires the belts to be removed. You could try nipping up the cam cover bolts, it depends on how bad the leak is.

Really ? can't the belts be left in place ?
Get cover off clean all gasket off apply new gasket and refit cover without touching belts valves etc?

Blimey, this is an old thread, but my answer is still the same. On 2.7 (and 2.5) engines the cam is in the cam cover housing so you need to remove the belts to get it off.

Yep as above , mine was leaking oil above number 4 cylinder after doing the head gasket, just needed nipping up a touch and problem solved , but if the gasket has gone then you need to remove the cam tower

Just for completeness, I'll add that the 16 valve engines (944 S 2.5l 16v and 944 S2 3.0l 16v) have a different design. The cam cover on those engines can be removed without disturbing the belts.

Thanks Guys .
Apologies for my ignorance.
Im going to tighten up the bolts to see if that solves it and have a gasket ordered as worse case scenario.
