Just thought I would ask here... My 2.5S failed its MOT on brake bias and poorly operating handbrake along with a split steering gator! Most is easy to sort but my bleed nipple on the offending calliper is totally mangled by a previous owner and it will just not budge, I jumped the gun and bought a rebuild kit but without getting the nipple out I'm stuck! So if anyone has any advice of a diy of doing it please help. My thoughts are take it to an engineer and see what he can do but I just don't like spending money unnecessarily!

Anyway thanks for any suggestions.

Duncan.

Halfords "shock & unlock" spray helped on mine along with copious WD40... I then gave them a nudge to tighten before undoing them....

Failing that, a local garage.... I took my car in for them to get it on the ramp to loosen the bolts holding the callipers on.... charged me £10.... saved hours of swearing and cursing....

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Cheers for that I'll call in today if I get chance, I know what you mean about the bolts, it has took about 5 evenings of swearing WD40 and finally enough heat from my mapp gun to forge a new calliper to remove just one bolt!!

Indeed Duncan :)

I couldn't face 8 seized calliper bolts.... and I didn't want to use heat on brakes/ callipers if I could help it - for £10 with local garage, it was a steal :)

Good luck!

After spending £20.00 at my local garage removing a broken nipple and re-tapping the caliper, I used a MAPP torch on the rest of my nipples - it's surprising what localised heating can do (if you're careful) to assist in releasing stuck nuts and bolts. It doesn't need to be red-hot either, I used GT85 as my penetrating fluid then heated the piece until it smoked off and the nipples just came out as smooth as silk - almost lol..
