I've been ripping out wires from the poor excuse of a stereo install from my 944 and whilst tidying things up and putting a few bits right I came across a few issues.

Firstly the heater fan doesn't do anything which could be quite annoying when the car gets on the road. The horn doesn't work and there is a stay electrical connector hanging around in the area yet the horn is connected up (some after market horn at least).

under the panel in the passenger footwell I came across a nother connector not connected to anything and a big chunky wire that's just been cut and left there, I've attached some pictures of these.

Also does anybody have a diagram of the fuses as I have no idea which ones do what?

The chunky connector is an ISO radio connector a quick google will give connections & colour codes.
God knows what the big harness is? I'd suggest stripping it back & getting some of the colour codes off of it.
I think Rick Cannells site has the wiring diags.

That's a strange place for a stereo connector, there are wires behind the dash for the stereo (well some wire for it anyway)

Will take a look at that site cheers.

Something in my brain clicked last night and I realised that the big fat wire which had been chopped is probably the remnants of the mobile phone kit that was fitted. The other end is hanging in one of the storage compartments in the boot so I'll work on removing that completely next week.

Either a mobile phone kit or an old alarm install?

I'm almost entirely sure it's the car phone kit as I have one end of a fat plug but not the other which would explain the chopped wire. Alarm is still plumbed in and working although the interior sensors don't seem to be working.

My first 944 was off the road for a long time and the fan didn't work.
A healthy dose of wd40 and some manual help got it to spin as it should.

I'll give that a try thanks.

I've noticed that a fair few fuses in the aux fusebox are missing so I'll look through the various manuals I've collected and make sure everything has the right fuse and see what wakes up and what doesn't.
