Got a screaming belt ( alternator ) and having checked the power steering belt too, they both appear to be a little on the slack side.

Can anyone advise on best method to adjust both these pulleys?

The adjustment mechanism for both belts is like nothing I've ever seen, resembles a track rod end.

Do I need to remove the protective tray under the car to gain access or can it be done on a ramp through the holes in that protective tray?

Many thanks

Paul

Tray off, loosen locknuts on adjuster & slacken bolts through ends then using (from memory) 17mm spanner crank centre to lengthen adjuster. You need 6mm or 1/4" play in the belts on the longest stretch. Do not overtighten the end adjuster bolts you can strip the threads in the mating part.
The adjuster has a lh & rh thread so by winding the centre it expands & shortens. Sometimes the adjuster locknuts seize in which case strip it off & do it in the vice.
Personally if it is new to you I'd get new ones & swap them.
