I am looking at buying a 1977 924 and the owner says that it will start and sounds good but then just shuts off "The car starts and sounds good at first, but then quits after a while"

I don't know too much about cars so I thought I would ask a group who knows this car quite well.

by the way, they are asking $850 for it so if you can tell me what might be wrong and how much it generally costs to fix I would be greatly appreciative.

Sounds like fuel starvation maybe?

how old is the fuel ? could be stale, otherwise i'd check fuel pressure or pump, not sure if theres a relay the same as 944

Long time since I worked on these but I think they have a warm up regulator, also an idle control valve which could be the problem. Could also be clogged filteror sticky throttle plate. It's a K Jetronic so lots of knowledge around about these. Similar to Golf GTi & Beemers of the period.
