So then people my 944 has no fan relay, but the fan works perfectly well and I don't have over heating issues. For nearly two years now. Well that is to say did, while having a wheel alignment done it got a bit hot and cause it to start pouring fluid from the breather. Once cooled down. I topped the coolant up ran the engine up to temp and when it got to the 3rd mark the fan kicked in and brought the temp down. Which it has done a couple of times since. Anyone got any ideas how my system is working without a relay? And any ideas on the blip that caused it to get hot? Much appreciated |

it seemed to. Well enough to flatten the battery when the water switch failed. The wiring was something of a disaster area, and i wondered if the relay had been by passed. The relay for the fan was definitely missing. |

To round this off for any one, its a generic relay from way back when porsche made VW's! costs about £2.50 and it gives you a two speed fan. With out it, its got slow speed only. So id say get one fitted if yours is missing as it would be a kicker to over heat in the summer knowing it only cost £2.50 to sort! |
