Anyone on here win the auction then? http://bit.ly/1lwgyIf If it's solid enough it looks like an ideal base as a tracksl*g/hillclimber; a nice blank canvas you wouldn't feel too guilty about stripping/hacking in to... But then again it might be a complete dog! |

I had it in my watch list out of interest. Not a bad price, but by the sellers description, it needed a lot of work, before even getting to any unknown issues. Agreed it would make a good track base. |

Agreed that it does sound like it needs quite a bit of love in many areas. I fear at that price it may have been bought to be broken for spares :/. |

Most likely it will have been bought by a breaker at that price, but in my view that's only a good thing for those of us that own good examples; more spares and one fewer poorer example to hold back values ![]() |

Breaking a poor car doesn't mean the spares from it are worth having, there's breakers on ebay asking ridiculous prices for 25 year old running gear. |

Crazy money yes, but the said spares are crazy money new (£300 for a fog light?). I guess that is supply and demand. Remember than only 500 Turbos are now roughly left, not that they ever were a common sight. Some breakers do ask dream like figures mind youl |

I bought a complete new lamp for £93 from Promax less than 4 years ago. Stuck some protectors on after that too. |

I wouldn't bother now, I'd stick a pair of little round projector driving lamps and matching fog lamps in the bumper. |

Going slightly off topic, but what are the options for fog lamp protectors now? I remember Martin having a few for sale a little while back, are there other options? |

Promax sell a set of more basic items which were developed by a certain chap off this forum. They are more basic than Martin's it has to b said but Promax's items are said to be sufficient in preventing the lamps in being broken. IIRC they are less than £25 all in from ProMax, possibly a little less from the original creator on here. I think Type 911 also sell protectors with more of a curvature that follows the contours of the fog lights but they are possibly pricier than Martin's offerings. One specialist once informed me that he felt light film (a little like security (tinting) film on car windows) would be enough to prevent stones etc. from breaking Porsche lamps. Like others who were given the same advice I have found that advice a little dubious. I guess some protection is better than none! |
