Bushes? Maybe shocker for starters. Or roll bar. Could also be exhaust. Broken mount. Have a look & shake a few things :) (If it's like clicking then it's probably a wheel bearing. Jack up & wobble the wheel. if it goes away when you hit the brakes may be pads or bearing.)Might even be the shoe spring from the hand brake mech if it's come off.

2 choices either a broken brake shoe retaining ring or pad rattle. If you strip the shoes then get all new springs they cost pennies but will break if you reuse them.

Before I did my rear pads they would rattle at random  . Now fast forward a few months later I think my fronts may be starting to do the same, so I think it's par for the course.
Back when these cars were new I suspect that OPCs replaced them long before we would ourselves..

I think a lot of it is when they were newer & serviced at OPC's then you just stumped up for a fitting kit with no option, these days tight people like me don't  Hence mine has no pad wear sensors or clip in sticky pads!
I remember when my boss had a 944 in 86 it went in for a service & they changed the pads. The fitting kits cost nearly as much as the pads! They automatically billed for pad wear sensors despite the fact the pad wear light wasn't on!

Aye. But I don't think you can remove the wear sensor without breaking it though.

You can if you take care aparently.
My Porsche manual says the wear sensors should only be replaced with new pads if they have put the warning light on. If not they can be re-used.

Ok but when I did it it looked as though they might have been original, and they basically crumbled in me fingers. Also I got the impression taking them out that they were designed to break on removal.

that they were designed to break on removal.

It's to part you tight northerners from your cash

They do break up as they get hot which damages the placcy.

Back on topic, I should also check your disk backing plate. They are secured to the hub by 2 (or 3 ) bolts and commonly rust through allowing the plate to rattle around a bit.

I had this problem when I bought the car. Rear near-side. It was simply loose brake pads. It took my mechanic friend 30 minutes to strip it, bend the springs that hold the pads in place, and put it altogether again. Never rattled since, and that was three years and 43000 miles ago.
