Post subject:  Starting, sunroof and petrol

Hi

I've had my 944 S2 for a few months now, I really like it but a few niggles are beginning to show.

Firstly, starting seems a bit hesitant, it starts but it seems to turnover a couple of times before catching, I have been told this is a S2 characteristic. Is there anything I can do to improve things?

Secondly, when I close the sunroof the guides continue too far and delatch from the sunroof, is this standard?

Thirdly, I get a distinct smell of petrol when cornering left. The rubber seal around the filler neck has deteriorated, is this easy to change?

And finally, for now, the glovebox retainers don't work properly, ie the lid drops too far, is there an easy fix?

Thanks

Darren

the churning over before starting is a bit of a 944 characteristic, have heard many supposed remedies but unsure if any work, from cambelt tension, emptying water from the starter motor, fuel rail pressure dropping due to inlet air leaks etc.

sunroof problems are usually due to micro switch adjustment see http://www.clarks-garage.com for info.

petrol smells could be a leaking tank or corroded pipes or even as you suspect a perished neck seal, or neck to tank pipe.
