Having realised that my sunroof would be just as watertight if it wasn't even there, I set about trying to cure the problem.
Checked all the seals and decided the inner one needed attention. So I invested £20 in a seal off ebay which is slightly thicker.
Took it for a spin and noticed straight away that the wind noise had gone. :thumbright:
I wrinkled the side roof lining a bit putting it on so took it back off to sort it out. Now the drivers sunroof arm isn't extending properly and won't latch back into the roof panel :cussing:
Any ideas?

Also spent an hour last night trying to start it and found the DME relay had gone! Lucky I carry a spare one. Now there is a rattling noise coming from the front when I turn left that seems to get quieter when I brake :banghead:

Suppose that's what you get for £400

Brake could be pad rattle, mine does it from the rear, I just ignore it & turn the radio up

The arm sounds like you've stripped the sunroof gear, they're cheap as in a few pounds but changing them needs technique. Have a google for clarkes garage for the instructions. Oh by the way get 2 because the other one won't be in fantastic nick either!

sounds like sunroof gears gone, about £10 for two, a tip when you come to changing them is once you take the panel off between the sunroof and the hatch just pierce the vinyl where the gears are and remove thro' these holes as i had problems getting the vinyl to lie flat again and the panel with cover the holes

Thanks for the tips!
I'll have a look at the weekend. Brakes first I think as it sounds horrible and people are giving me funny looks!

Took a gander at the brakes and it looks like a combo of a sticky rear drivers caliper and pad rattle.
Back on the ramp as soon as it's free again.
I thought only the later sunroof had the plastic gears?
Mine is an 85/1

I understood they were all plastic but the earlier cars have the switches etc. set up differently.
