had a look at the invoice for my car from back in 88:
Image

a few things i don't 'get':

-sports suspension?
my shocks are yellow is this the 'sports' spec? there is no record of them being changed in the history file (seems pretty comprehensive)

-cloth seats to bolsters
does that mean all cloth or half leather?

-wheel centres painted
eh?

anyone shed any light on any of this?

thanks,

rick.

If my memory serves me correctly, standard suspensions whether it be from a dealership or or everyday parts shop are usually black, so sports suspensions tended to be coloured so as to be shown off in the arches. I had sports suspension fitted to my old mini which were the GAZ shocks and these were bright yellow with the gold adjustable knob for hardening the ride of the car (as if it wasn't a hard ride without them anyway).

Bolster seats- I always thought this varied depending on manufacturer the companies i have worked for in the past bolster seats tended to be half fabric half leather but it also depended on the spec level of the car too, but i could be wrong

As for the wheels, its does say centres so maybe they decided to paint them up to match the wheel or they had to be painted before the car was sent out.

I aint sure how correct i am on the last 2 but i am pretty certain with the shocks.

(watch this someone will tell me i am wrong)

Sarah

Check the options sticker either in the boot or in the hand book,if it has sports suspension it will either say M030 or M474 both of which are yellow shocks !!

Im sure the m030 option was avalible in 88 but it could have been on the later 250 cars. Do yours look like normal shocks but painted yellow if so then they are probably the m474 koni's which is what my 88 turbo came with (m030's fitted now)!!

coloured centres are the cap in the centre of the wheel with the crest painted in colour, standard caps were silver with black painted crests

i think cloth to bolsters refers to the centre part of the seat being cloth with the actual bolster being either leather, leatherette or cloth dependant on spec

ah ha, thanks all.

my interior is all cloth so i'm guessing it looks like it's been changed at some point.

good to know what the original suspension was so i can see if it's been changed or not. will be replacing it soon, V3's not in the budget so was looking at the koni porsche shop has. how much did you pay for your m030?

interesting about the centres, think i'l paint my own when i get the wheels re-furbed, seen it done with markers

rick.
