Post subject: | How to remove slotted valance |
I've just been attempting to get my 944 but sadly the brakes have seized on all 4 wheels and the car was put into the garage facing forward. I've spotted where to put the towing eye on the rear but due to the slotted valance I can't put the eye in as it's too short. How do I remove the valance so I can give the car a tug with a 4x4 and hopefully free the brakes up? It's either that or I'm going to have to dismantle all 4 brakes and rebuild them just to get the car out. What do the people with this valance do when they need to use the rear towing eye? |

Can I remove it using a simple socket set? Need to check as it's not in my garage so I need to take tools to the car. |

can you get round the car? if so let the hand brake off get a brass drift or lump of wood and give the rear calipers a shock with a hammer it should spring the brakes off |

Front and rears are stuck on. Whoever put it there was kind enough to not engage the handbrake but they seized up anyway, great fun. Will take a hammer with me next time but that method requires removing all 4 wheels so I think I'll give the tugging a shot first ![]() |

a socket set or a couple of spanners ought to be enough but you will have to get under the rear of the car to do it and youll need some light too.Might be an idea to remove the bumper with the valence attatched! Good luck!! ![]() |

Basic socket set should be enough to remove valence. I am fairly sure there are 6 bolts - 4 of which you can see from where I tied the rope I was hanging it from the garage ceiling with.
