Thanks Stuart . Had fuel tank cover made and fitted it as well as testing pumps and lines with gauge fitted this time . Had a good 8 bar showing with no leaks .

I was going to run without an alternator as the 924 is meant for hill climbs but had a change of heart in case I wanted to use it for something else . Mark (Mink) kindly gave me an alternator to fit but I then had the realisation that the charge pipe from the turbo to intercooler was in the way and no hope of it fitting . I then read about a Suzuki Swift alternator , which is tiny and weighs 4kg less, that has been fitted so managed to locate a new one for £100 . This is only 60amps but it doesnt have to do much on this car . I changed the pulley over to a 6 rib pulley and a little grinding of the mount enabled it to fit giving room for the turbo charge pipe . Anyone else still alive on this forum , been deadly quite recently .

I’d get lost half way up there Paul and they ruined it when they put tarmac down . It’s just using up that engine I had left over from when I put the 968 one in the other car . |

TBH I don't know much about hill climbs, but isn't it all over in under 3 or 4 minutes? Seems like your 924 should be used somewhere like Oulton or Donington. |

Thank you Pad . In the words of every wannabe reality contestant " its been a journey" and I have been "out my comfort zone " for most of it . Its enough to get a man to rip his 75" TV of the wall and stick it up Mr Cowells bottom . |

| I'm sure that single seater has a lot of downforce, grip and power. I expect Simons 924 will have a lot of power. Maybe he's planning to do hill climbs and track days.

Had a day on the 924 at long last . The Land rover has eventually been finished and departed my lawn . Finished of fitting the tie rod extenders to the Subaru steering rack which has worked out well with a very short rack lock to lock and fitted another astra electric power steering pump (TWR) to help move the oversize rubber. Then dropped it on the ground after many months . My god it is low ! Even compared to the other car which has been lowered . Nice level wishbones mind you with those extended pins. Very happy with how its looking. Added 8 litres of oil to the dry sump tank and tried the new Porsche Special Tool . Its actually a balance shaft pulley welded to a bolt but has the correct tooth for the dry sump belt . Put a spare belt on the pulley and with a battery drill not at full power was getting a reading of around 4 bar . Increasing the speed of the drill got just over 80psi which was very pleasing but the oil pressure will need adjusting on the pump when engine running at higher revs . We left the cam cover of so could see oil filling the head and returning into the tank . You could actually get a small amount of pressure by turning the dry sump pump by hand . First dry sump system I have tried so happy so far . Also found that without the cam chain the tensioner is a great place to anchor DTI gauge . Then started to re pin a new wiring loom I bought from Danst Eng into a Vems Ecnoseal plug . This along with a new speed and ref harness from Augment and a COP harness from Peep has rid me of all the old crusty wiring and connectors . The ecu is a used Vems V3 bought cheaply that has gone back to Peep to fit a new main board . Mostly waiting for the return of the ecu to start up and a slot at the paint shop .

The cage Nick put in is well tied in to the shell so it is very stiff but yes there will be a strut brace up top and probably a lower one . Not sure how feasible it is to tie it into bulkhead now . I know the factory cars had the front legs of the cage extending through the bulkhead to the top mounts but that wont be happening here . |
