I will finish building it up and it can sit on the stand in case anything happens to the engine in the car . Simple swap and already have the map saved on the laptop .

Same thing I've been doing for over 10 years then  .

Yep , it’s a certain way to guarantee that nothing will go wrong with the engine in your car !

:D Plus newer stuff with awd and a DSG gearbox is easier to drive, and launch.

I had been looking for quick racks for the 944 for a while and had come across PRS . If you look at their facebook page there is a video of a 944T doing a hillclimb with a 2.2 rack . Unfortunately that is not a porsche rack but one of their subaru items someone managed to fit . Then Mr TurboTim mentioned he had a few bits left over from selling his car including this porsche 944 2.4 rack .
Apparently Sellholm in sweden make a new pinion and rack and put it all together for you if you give them lots of pennies . Anyway it arrived yesterday and is now on the car .
I cant give a review yet as still waiting on some electronic components that must be on that slow boat from China !

Electronic bits turned up .
Reaching the limits of the outputs of this Vems ecu now . As I am running COP , these are using the stepper outputs from the Vems . The Jenvey throttle body has a built in 6 pin evo stepper icv but we have no way of running it now from the ecu .
The simple solution is to connect up the OE Bosch 3 pin ICV but no , my clever mate reckons we can run the evo icv with the one output we have left . So we now have now have two little bits of electronics connected to the Vems , one to work the stepper motors and one to control it after you have written some basic code and downloaded it . It took most of the day but we now have control of the ICV through the ecu .
As you can tell this is way over my head and I got bored with this after 15 minutes and just made the tea all day !

Thanks, op was a big success, as are the lifters you kindly sent up, not a noise from them. Many thanks again!

Glad to hear Stuart .
Still been having trouble with the stepper motor controllers , but believe we have found the reason why . The Mitsubishi icv requires a floating earth to work . I looked this up and am still unsure what this is , but fortunately my mate does and he’s wiring it .
It does mean another wait for another electronic chip but I am sure it will be worth it to get this working correctly.

Hurrah , it has finally been sorted and have had the car at a decent idle . We have had to bring the fuelling down quite a bit which is to be expected running the same map with 300cc less and a slightly higher comp ratio . So all was good until it cut out and refused to start , fortunately this was a simple fix after some head scratching . Make sure there is petrol in the tank !
I have attached a photo of the unit and instructions in case any one else is in the same situation . This converts a pwm signal from the ecu so you are able to run a 4/6 wire stepper ICV . No
programming or working out the motor steps and limits is needed , it does it all for you , then you can control it via the Vems . We had to do this as the stepper outputs from the original Vems are being used for the Cop's .

Vems back with Peep , loose connection on back of ecu blew a chip . Wish my ecu got air miles !
