Paul sounds like a good time to install that vems ecu you have then you can run whatever .

I think it's just the idle circuit that's knackered on my TPS, Peep said VEMS doesn't use that. So I applied some man maths and spent 4 times as much for a kit from him  . If my TPS still doesn't work, I think he can supply an adaptor to use cheaper BMW TPS now.

Have you managed to figure out how to solve this issue?

Thank you Waylander , but most credit should go to Baz at Hartech , this is his experimental engine with the nicosil wet liners he started 10 years ago .
Had some caliper adapters made up by Freaky Parts for my set of A8 D2 calipers like a Big Red caliper but larger pistons and longer legs which would allow you to run 350mm discs if you wanted but I have had these made to use the Porsche Cayanne 330mm disc and these are dirt cheap at £40 a disc after discount . Should help slow her down a bit better. Of course that meant bigger wheels which I should have back this week from the powder coaters , gone to the dark side with these with them being 18".
Have now set up the electronic boost control valve on the Vems and seems to be working well . The Holset HX35 seems a really good/lucky choice for this engine and has some serious urge . We are all interested in some figures now its run in properly and we have got to grips with the vems , even rigged the rear wiper switch to change between maps but you can only have two maps, so taking it back to the rolling road in a couple of weeks all being well.

I was planning to have my 250 turbo front calipers refurbed (928 S4) , but I'd be interested in running A8 calipers and bigger discs. Never heard of Freaky Parts adapters though?

Hi Paul , they can make adapters for most calipers . I sent a spindle disc and caliper for them to work it out , have a look at their website .
Around 2002 for a couple of years I believe that audi were using these calipers on the A8 . You also need some aluminium centre rings to fit the discs , a guy on rennlist sells them or I have a drawing to get them made.

Thanks Simon. I think I read somewhere that there's an adapter, that allows a later/bigger/cheap Porsche caliper/disc to bolt straight on?

I would imagine its either these discs from a Cayenne or from Boxster S .The cayenne discs come in 330mm or 350mm and 34mm thick and are ridiculously cheap. Then get the adapters made for what ever caliper you fancy , the extra spent on the adapter will be saved on cheaper calipers . Actually if you look at their facebook page they have more caliper projects they have completed . I was trying to retain some sort of vw/audi/porsche link with these but did look at range rover sport calipers originally ,cheap but they are huge!

The discs and Textar pads on the car now haven't done many miles, and unlike what was on the car before, they don't squeal. Some people rate the 928 S4 brakes, but they don't seem to pull up from high speed that hard to me. Having said that my pals RS4 and RS3 overheat the brakes when used hard.

Pads make a big difference but you are right my other car has the S4 calipers and they don't inspire total confidence at speed .This caliper with these piston sizes is the same as that used on the F50 (apart from extra lug length) so should stop this little old van engined porsche .

:D . Was this conversion done on the 86 turbo setup, and do you know if your adapters work on the 89 on car? I did contact Freaky Parts, but they wanted everything to check.

Yes it’s an 86 car but changing to later spindles and hubs as you can see abs on the hubs in the photos so would work with an 89 .

I asked them about an uprated setup for the S4 disc/caliper and they went quiet, which seemed a bit odd, as that's effectively they did for you?

Strange , I found stewart very helpful . These calipers will work with the adapters you have for the S4 calipers which are the same bolt spacing but the extra length of the legs will mean you are not getting full disc contact .
I did think about using my promax s4 caliper adapters with 993t two piece bell and getting Reyland to make up a floating disc to fit but the cost of future discs did not make sense.
Getting the adapters made makes sure you get full use of the bigger discs as the picture shows.
