The problem with replacing the semi solid engine mounts with the hydraulic is a 10mm difference in height which meant bonnet was touching the intake manifold , fortunately I could cut out the centre bonnet support and leave the intake alone . Looks ok and as long as the cat doesn't decide to walk on it strong enough .
Also spent a bit of time finishing of the spare engine with the holset hy35. To keep a decent 90 and not have it too acute means it runs very close to the AOS heat shield which needs adjusting to get it to fit so I cut it and welded it up again to get the clearance needed . I also needed to alter the aos oil filler as it will not fit with the new intake so a bit of silicone hose on the cut down filler and a oil filler cap of ebay sorts it out , with the structural masking tape of course .
And as a winter project to use up some parts I have left over, I had some liners put in a spare block to use a set of je pistons I bought , 3L 8v . These were a special order for an engine with 92mm of stroke using the 4963 conrods again but using 22mm mitsubishi pins so can keep the conrod bushings this time .

Neat job. Did you consider having some louvres stamped in that bonnet?

Hi Pauly , thanks .
Tempting with the louvres , but still have the bonnet I had stamped before. I never liked washing the car with it on as it felt you were filling up the engine bay when you put the hose on.
Hoping to have some basic dyno figures after thursday .

It has been put back to next Friday but yes car is running vems .

Took the car along to Regal in southampton this morning to play around with the live mapping on the vems .
Firstly put in the 55lb siemens injectors as this was just to set the engine up not power runs as the fueling map supplied by Peep was way of , but will have to change these out as we were up to 95% at 1 bar .
Need to sort the idle out as hunting a bit but apart from that engine running well through out rev range now fueling adjusted till first blew an intercooler hose of , fixed that then on taking it to 1 bar of boost lost boost pressure again and had to call it a day . The large snap ring could not have been located properly and blew out the compressor housing from the turbo . No damage ,just everything a bit hot to fix there and then .
Still should have done enough to be able to drive around much smoother and finish mapping on the road when fixed.

Surprised Peeps map was way off, unless he'd loaded one for bigger injectors or an 8v?

Dont think he had done a fueling map for a 3.25 16v before .I read that the majority of people do literally plug and play with the base map and are very happy with it .
Removed turbo and compressor housing this morning and found the housing had caught the tips of the wheel I couldnt see before so will change the wheel out . Holsets with the 12 point nut are supposed to be pre balanced so should be able to just swap the wheel but for the cost I think I will whip it down to TurboDynamics and get them to balance it . And make sure the circlip is fitting right !!
I couldnt have fitted correctly when clocking the compressor housing , 'my bad' as my grandson says .

4.125" ford v8 pistons (104.7mm in new money) and 94.48mm stroke gives 3.259L capacity .

Interesting project, what compression ratio do the V8 pistons give & who bored & linered the block?

Hi Jim , even having the block deck height taken down to 9.00 from stock 9.060 the c/r still comes out at 8.47:1 . The pistons do sit down the bore 3mm (see pic) but these were of the shelf ford pistons using the 4g63 con rods and shouldnt be an issue .
I have started another build in the background with a set of je pistons someone had made for this type of engine giving 92mm of stroke and c/r of 8.01 or take it to 93mm and 8.35:1 .
Gentleman called Ian at TIK engineering in Fareham machined the block and fitted the flanged sleeves , old school .

Well, the good news is engine all back together and running . The bad news is I had two of my spare 3 litre cranks crack tested and both came back with cracks in them , bugger .
Anyone want a paperweight for xmas ?

Owselbury Crank Services , near Winchester, cost £42 each to tell me they are cracked .
Would have cost a lot more to build an engine around them mind .
Looking at two options now , buy another crank that I know of for sale and get stroked or have a longer set of connecting rods made to use a 2.5 crank and make a 2.7 16v .
