Going to refresh the front brakes this year, surprised to find a pair of discs start around £300 and performance pads around £100 ![]() |

The discs seem a little excessive. My Big Black Discs work out to around £150-200 a disc! As for the pads £100 for performance items is around the norm for most cars. Even on my Pug 205 GTi, Mintex M1144s were £65 and they are (or were) a very common pad (other Pugs (106s etc.) also use the same calliper. IIRC Pagid Blues were under £100. On my old hot hatches it was more like £100-120 (Pug 106 GTi, 306 GTi-6 and on my Mondeo 3.0 V6 (OK, more of a warm estate but you get the picture). From looking around via the usual suspects I seem to be getting prices of £78/disc up to £95. I am assuming you have a Turbo with an M030 option. If you have the Big Blacks then yes, the disc prices are extortionate (£300 for a pair seems like a bargain!). |

It's a 91 turbo, 944 man informs me they are medium blacks ? Discs are 304mm I think. For comparison Audi main dealers will supply and fit discs and pads to my 05 A4 quattro for £269. |

My prices were for Medium blacks of a 304mm diameter, unfitted, which is what I am lead to believing M030 brakes are. Via some sources I used my own reg, which like yours would have come with 304mm Medium Blacks ![]() |

I will be doing the fitting myself, TBH I haven't trawled the net for prices yet ,where did you find the discs for under £80 each ? |

Car parts 4 less Pauly. I got 4 pagid discs for £220 inc vat delivered. IIRC about £65 for the fronts and £45 for the rears. Pads about £70 for Pagid fronts for M030. You may want pads better suited to track days but the Pagid discs should be just fine. Try code CP5Less you may get 5% off! Stuart |

The front pads on my car have loads of life left but they feel wooden and fade so it's time for something new. Paul |

Id suggest Carparts4less too. I have Pagids from them and they cost £50-£60 a disc. 928S4 discs which a '90 Turbo has, will cost broadly the same (£60). |

Checked their site and they seems favourite, I'll mic up the discs this weekend and probably change the rears too. Any recommendations for road pads ? |

The cheapest supplier for ATE/Sebro discs for me was from Berlyn at £78. ECP come to around the same level with the discount code (service25) applied (maybe a couple of pounds cheaper) and they deliver in that price (£143 for the pair was what price I got). Pagid Discs are even cheaper with the discount code (more like £60 each). As for the pads it shall be interesting to see what the fast road chaps use. On other cars (and my own 205 GTi) Mintex M1144s have been great in terms of having great cold bite and seeming to not fade. The M1155s I had on my 106 GTi (these came with a 260mm brake upgrade) required more of a stamp from cold (not quite as bad as Tarox or EBC Greenstuff) but they seemed to be unfadable on that car (the stock 247mm items were pretty shocking in comparison!). If it were me I would probably be tempted to either go with M1144s or Pagid Blues if you fancy a fast road pad or simply going with genuine brake pads (I guess ATE or Textar in the listings). Even on my daily the brakes seem to be superior on genuine (or Bosch if bought from an outside (non dealer) supplier) pads over other offerings. The latter is something my MOT tester always tries to adhere to as well. |

I read that ECP and Carparts4less are part of the same company, seems like it's down to the discount code which works out cheapest on any particular day. |

Yes and no. Yes theyre the same but CP4L are always cheaper. no matter what discounts ECP have. They have the added advantage that they offer a simple price without the need for endless discount codes whereas ECP quote a comedy price which now relies on a code to make it competitive. CP4L did have an order value based discount code, but that seems to have disappeared now. |

Mailed them to ask if there is or likely to be a code anytime soon. |

Certainly on my daily certain bits which are as good as genuine parts are not available through CP4L but are through ECP. |

Have you tried searching using the ECP part number? |
