Afternoon all,

I thought i would start a little project thread so you can all follow the progress of the 944 Turbo i recently purchased , i will be giving her a full respray over the next few weeks with some subtle upgrades. I own a body shop so will be carrying out all the work, The car is pretty mint as it stands the front end has a few stone chips and some of panels are a slightly faded shade of red

Already made quite alot of progress so far ...

She is currently standard .. bar the Cup 1 alloys which i am changing for the original wheels ( i have these )

Heres some pictures of her when i got her home :

Good work. I wish I knew the first thing about bodywork and painting.

Nice! Definitely the best colour for a 944 but the fading put me off (my Rallye is red and keeping on top of it is a nightmare), but a full repaint with clear coat would be great. I guess being a painter helps :) I look forward to the final pics!

Thats looking good.
I know if it was me in the spray shop with everything hanging I would crash into one of them.

However I dont know why you showed the finished car first

Good stuff, nothing like a freshly painted car!!

My Guards Red 944 isn't bad overall, but I'm quite picky, and have a friend with a spray booth - so will probably end up giving mine a respray at some point.

I was planning on using 2K direct gloss though but I see you are using base & clear. Are the modern basecoats and lacquers UV resistant? My feeling is at least with direct gloss if it does ever fade you can always cut it back, but with base coat you're stuck with faded base.

I'm very much an amateur in this respect, so ask more out of interest :)
