I have the Arnworx kit which I loan out, TBH the main bits you'll need are the spanners & the flywheel lock. If you PM or mail me through here we can sort it out. |

If an official at the club has the time and the inclination to administor following idea, I am happy to sponsor it. I would be happy to supply the club with the following specialist tools on permanent loan...
9XX specialist pin spanner for balance shaft sprockets 9XX Specialist manual belt tensioning spanner for balance belt tensioner and manual cam belt tensioner 9XX Balance belt hold down cup Kricket belt tension indicator tool Flywheel lock for 944 Flywheel lock for 968
In addition I am happy to supply the club with a PDF file which will detail instructions on how to change the belts and set the tension which can be sent out with the tools each time a member loans them. If my proposal meets with the acceptance of the committee, an officer of the club is happy to administer it, and the membership would like this to happen, then I would propose the following. When a member of the club wishes to borrow the tools, they pay a deposit of the new price of the tools, along with a small admin fee and the insured shipping cost of getting the tools to the member... Once the member has finished with them, they return them to the club by insured means (recorded delivery), and as long as they are not damaged, gets their full deposit returned to them.. So the member gets to use the tools, and only pays for an admin fee and the shipping of the tools to them. However, if the committee is not interested, or no officer has time for the additional occasional duty, then I will be happy to set up a similar scheme, but where the admin fee is more of a rental fee, which will be deducted from the deposit based on the amount of days they were away for, with of course Tipec members getting a special discount on these fees and people who have bought the parts from us they are looking to install also getting a further discount on rental. The main thing is, I am happy to support the club in being able to offer its membership a benefit, such as these tools, which will hopefully improve the amount of enthusiasts joining up or add value to membership. So what are peoples thoughts? |

What a generous offer! I would make use of the service, I have seen the quality of the tools in question on your website Jon. I would not mind paying the going rate for rental at all. Would the pdf cover all models ie S2. Mark |

I'd be intetested in this also, my timing belt needs a tension check and I'm sure my balance belt sounds a bit tight! |

Yet another reason for praising JMG ![]() ![]() My belts are due for a tension check after replacement during last years Megga service (annually since 2007 at JMG) I now leave the technical maintenance to the experts, just love the 460 mile drive there & back. ![]() Clive |

Awesome Jim, thanks for taking this on. If Sean Smallman is happy to put his seal of approval to the idea, I will put all the bits together for you, I think all I need to do is order in one 944 and one 968 flywheel lock, as I think I have everything else in stock. ![]() |

Approved. ![]() This will be a great member benefit to add to the list. On behalf of the Club many thanks for pulling something together that encourages those that do spanner themselves the confidence to do their own belts. We now have a virtual credit card payment portal that will help you take the deposit/refund and postage Jim. I will ask Paul to share the details on how you set that up. |

Iam so glad I asked ! Mine are due to be changed the end of this year so it was a little bit of forward planning. I have been a member of other car clubs over the past years but quite new to the porsche scene, may I just say what a decent set of people you all seem to be especially you Jon! I will be taking you up on the offer of hiring the nessary tools when needed. Thanks all again . |
