I'm going to fit gtx 3071 with tial housing. Iv got both 0.63 and 0.83 will go with the smaller one for now.

As some off you may know iv not long gone stage 2 using barks ecu. Straight after I was using oil at the rate off 1tr per 300 miles. Now this seems the same on and off boost. Turbo was thought to be in good health so wasn't rebuilt as I would eventually upgrade the turbo. Do to the oil consumption car hasn't been used hard at all. Turbo is now off and still seems in great health minimal shaft play no signs off oil leaks at all.

I'm having a 3" system made by fast road, plan was 3" system to the stock decate then fit gtx at a later date. However the studs to the discharge pipe snaped off and talks off removing the turbo, well while your in there MIT as well fit the gtx that's in the post.

As the v band housing will require fab work, most like by fast road we went ahead and gave them the job off fitting everything.

Dropped turbo off tonight and they made a start on the exhuast. Not really ideal working back from the tail pipe but they made a start while waiting the turbo.

Pics are quite bad. And where taken in a rush. The exhulst will sit slightly higher so tail pipe is closer to bumper just hanging there at the mo.

They fitted 1 back box and 1 slincer. Will have a flange inbetween to remove back box.
Wastegate will be tied in at the factory location on a shallow bend. After the slincer. Iv requested it there as the cup cars kept that location even on there straight though systems. U would think if it could off gone in earlyer they would saving weight and metrial. Nothing to lose from having it there but closer could cause an issue could not.

Is there any issues with the exhuast stepping up like it is to the back box? It's much straighter then stock and other offerings but not as flat? It tig and pulse wielded and had 20 year garrenty

What I would say now the cross over is off, I'm wondering if a twin scroll set up would off been even better. Tial housing are nice, but expensive the flanges and clamp for crossover connection and discharge are nearly £200

Gtx is pretty large, however next to 26 in that pic it don't look it.

engine mount and turbo mount

Engine mount was replaced to create room and give more possabality off the turbo clearance. However the autonator cover needed to be removed or the turbo pushed lower and deeper. We went for stock like location but slightly lower giving more room around the underside off the intake and trottle body. However this then ment moving everything that surrounded the turbo and removal off the heat shield, also a little fetal off the dip stick as well.

Been waiting on the tial v band flanges and clamps frim the start, these where source from aboard with the promise off 3 days delivery 2 weeks later and they just arrived in the country with £30 import duty.

Tial waste gate was put on to correct flanges rather then adapouter plate 1st used. crossover is now a 3 peace item and the waste gate tie in after the 1st silencer like stock, but on less angle around 22degs merging on oval entrance and braced to sliencer via a few wields from above.

exhaust is in 3 sections discharge pipe v band off the turbo / flange, down pipe to back box with the back box on a v band just after rear roll bar.

intake was remade, and ic pipes as the pipe I had from turbo to ic was now 20mm short due to turbos new location.

At first the turbo to ic was made in 2" and ic to in take 2.5" which macthed my ported trottle body, however the stock butterfly is still only 56mm

Worried 2" MIT be to small I had the turbo to ic made in 2.5" 2.25 is prob best size but only work in 2" or 2.5"

Intake was changed slightly to make the cone filter sit square to the header tank and a brace made down to head light fixings so its supported. Intake is 4" at the turbo reduced to 3" to cone filter. Filter MIT be to small?

The trottle body return spring was changed and moved as the stock set up was in the way off the intake. Very simple bend off the stock item.

Changed aos seals, put a new Y in the return pipe so the aos is connected to the sump return like stock.
Oil line was made by pirtec and the water lines where made as hard lines

Still waiting on v bands so its not finished yet

What's people's thoughts? Any thing off consern?

Is the heat shield needed? Without it you can visually see the turbo :)

Looks very nice. Why didn't you just use a non turbo engine mount? Was it to get even mor clearance?

With so much around the turbo I should imagine that you're going to need some sort of heat shield. You could get one of the jacket kits for the turbo or ceramic coat the hot side?

Would off if it was me. However they just got stuck in. Easyer for them to work with steel as everything to hand.

Could off fixed the turbo to n/a mount in a simmler way. I did provide some images off past conversions and mods to the stock mount, but by passing the the oil drain means no chance off leaks

There's now room for an even larger cold side prob a extra 2" in diameter which just gives an idea off intake cleancerance

Iv requested some sort off heat sheild put on, blocking up wards travel off heat hopeing air flow will drag out the rest.

Turbo jacket is one idea but its nice to see the v bands. V bands can be remove with intake on, but the intake needs to come off to remove the turbo.

Few final adjustment to exhuast back box is going to kick up slightly exiting on a simmler angle to rear defuser, so there's no S bend raising the box. And the tial pipe will sit more nicer in the gap.

Should collect some time next week.

Cars back!!!!

Thanks to David M for posting me his turbo pump relay, wasn't needed.

Battery voltage issue is still there, autonator was checked, clean and fine battery is new.

Ok on to the bit you all want to know! Rember the car is still on the old tune for 26/8

A/f are around 11/11.6
Boost will start building positive from the word go, 1000rpm in 5th. Stock boost off 0.8 is seen around 2.6/2.8 and 1bar at 3k boost is building fast here I would expect 1.4 bar at 3.2

So like I said a true upgrade over stock. Better then stock spool, power wise its hard 2 say. Don't feel as quick due to it been more liner, less wheel spin and twichin but front feels lighter. However I not pushed it to hard till it been data logged and checked by Tom.

Intake mainfold is cold to touch as soon as you pull over, given time turned off under temps will raise and intake gets to hot to thouch.

Exhuast note.... Not loud on tick over just meanfull.

Zero drone on the motorway or set speeds. Can hear the turbo spool in 2nd on bends, dump valve is quiter then before could be the new location and arrangement or the stainless intake over the alloy.

Thanks proof will be in the dump figures, not really worked it hard yet as I'm getting tom to check/ re tune,

Did some data logs yesterday, with the lap top.

Af seem safe anoth at 11.6 / 11 up the boost 0.1 bar at a time to see if it show any signs off running out off fuel, 1.4 bar pull in 3rd from 40mph was nice, I looked down at the boost gague looked back up and I was at the end off the gear

Review in the logs a/f stay around the same, intake temps rose from 15th though to 28 at 6.5 k things stay pretty cool up to 4500 then rise about a degree every 300 rpm

Boost for 3rd gear
Positive boost from the off 2k rpm
0.6 3k
0.8 3250
1bar 3450
1.2 3650
1.4 4150

Apex will make adjustments and hold the boost more steady spool mot increase slightly

Spool is faster in 4th and 5th

5th gear
Stepping on it at 2700
0.8 bar 3000
1bar 3080
1.2 3200
1.3 3400

4th gear dropped from 5th at 2500 rpm
3000 rpm in 4th
1bar 3400
1.2 3500
1.3 3650
1.4 4100

So there no build up making 1.4 at the same time as in 3rd dispute building 1.3 earlier

I'm not 100% sure the gears are 4th and 5th 3rd gear pull deff is as it's the only gear I took up 2 6k rpm
the log don't record speed so I can't work out rpm vs speed to work out gear but I'm pretty sure it's the gears iv said.

4th and 5th will come on boost sooner if boost is built in that gear. Remember this on the old tune for 26/8

Looks like you have your work cut out with it all but the initial results are really good. I'm still debating with myself as to which way to go with mine, when I eventually get around to the engine, but your build gives me something else to think about.
