| Post subject: | idle stabilizer valve ISV |
ok i've read somewhere that you can clean the ISV on the 944S in situ with carb cleaner, as to remove it you need to remove the inlet assy. i've peered between the inlets and can see the ISV but can't work out which pipe to remove to spray the cleaner into, anybody help ? |

I've cleaned them on other cars & to be honest they need stripping off the car to do properly. Unfortunately on a 944 this means stripping the manifold off to get to it. |

Hi Lindsay, Have heard of people using this trick (WD40 or carb cleaner) to clean iSV on 928s with variable results! Some improved, some no change, some got worse which would not be stellar results for medical trial... Anyway excuse me poking my 928 nose in but since 944 engine is derived from 928 it may be relevant. On the 928 there is a Y connection on the throttle bracket (RHS) side of intake manifold. Hose going to brake servo is connected to the 'base' of the Y. The two arms of the Y are joined by a plastic section. To send cleaner to ISV you remove the plastic section and spray into the pipe towards rearmost of the two pipes. You should feel more suction on that hose when engine running. No idea if this makes any sense for a 944s, but maybe you can recognise something familiar? I didn't have any idle probs on my 928 S4 but changed the iSV for a new one anyway when I was in there. The old one was very sooty inside. |
