Hi all, Thinking about putting getting my cars geometry setup at my local indy (hartech) Is there anyone on here thats had theirs set up that can make some before/after comparisons? I'm a bit concerned i'll get the car back and won't be able to tell the difference! i could easily spend the money on the car elsewhere. cheers, rick. |

The 944 is very sensitive to geometry & I'd be amazed if you can't judge the difference. We did a suspension swap & reset on Paul ARO SELNK car & he reckoned the difference was light & day. The final adjustment was .25 of a degree of camber on one side & that made the difference between a car that pulled & one that was hands off! We decided to buy a camber gauge between us ( I already had a tracking gauge) & in the long run the ability to do it ourselves should pay off. |

OK, so I know I have a 964 but the priciple is the same. I lowered my car recently and took it to Porsche for the geo. The difference was obvious. I can now negotiate round abouts without having to brake first (if I was so inclined). You'll notice it. When was it last done? |

thanks chaps, the ride suspension components won't be changing. I had the toe and tracking set up a few weeks ago, a friend of mine did this at a branch of ATS he manages, wasn't a lot of difference to be honest. he didn't have the tools to measure camber so that wasn't altered. Since then i managed to clip a curb with the nearside front and now i have a wobble through the wheel at 70 ish  probably needs doing to be honest. how much do you think i'll be looking at? |

Wobble could be your wheel if you've hit it hard enough.. Take it to a wheel/tyre fitter and ask him to spin it up on the machine to check for lateral runout. |

I had the full laser alignment & it made a huge difference. It only took 20 minutes as it was only out by .75 of a degree. Massive difference in the way it drove though. Cost me £35 as the guy liked the car & only charged for tracking.  It doesn't have to cost a fortune. They really should put it on the machine & then tell you how much it will cost depending on what needs adjusting & how long it will take.

Hi Have a look at the June edition of All Torque and the article I wrote. Had the car done there, my 993. Before setting up the car it was frightening to drive but for all the wrong reasons The car is now terryfying but for all the right reasons Cannot put into print what we did on the two test drives (Chris driving first and then me) after the set up, but will let you know if we ever meet up It's worth having done. The only problem so far is having to start learning all about how to drive the car again! |

I had a full geometry setup at ProMax following the ARB bush replacement and 968 castor mounts being fitted. Once again the difference between before and after was night and day, but in my case, I cannot honestly say how much was down to the suspension refurb and how much to the geometry. |

I had my 924S done at an official Porcshe Dealer, and they also checked my steering system. I felt a definate improvement in the steering as a few bolts were working themselves loose, but they couldn't believe how good my suspension was and the related components was after 130,000 miles from new and 23 years old. To me its piece of mind, if there is anything wrong it can be fixed. I would sooner do that than lose control of a car. |

thanks for the advice people, i guess the problem is that to me the car drives very well as it is! I've got no frame of refernece as i've only ever driven my own. grip levels are good at the front end and breakaway out back is predictable and easy to control. if there is one thing i would hope to impove it's the steering feel, again, i don't know if this is normal but the steering feels quite heavy. waiting for a price from indy, if it's not much i'l get it looked at for piece of mind. thanks again, rick. |

Scho. If Hartech do the job, im guessing itl cost you aprox £150 ish...Maybee a tad more if they come across siezed bolts etc.... Theyve done my car on numerous occasions, and YES it made aassive difference to how the car drove + handled.... Just do it m8..... |
