I may be able to look, although Im not sure when. It looks alright superficially. Its a 1988 model year car and it has the correct wheels still, which is more than I can say for my own car. The trim spec was a little low but the leather seats appear to be the right colour (Grey-Beige, called Light Grey in series two 944s) and whilst they dont match the rears, they match the vinyl colour, if you see what I mean.

Had you noticed that theyre left hand drive seats? Poverty spec on the offside (up and down only), but all the bells and whistles on the near side seat. On the plus side the drivers seat will be in better condition...

It has certainly been up for sale for a while.

I enquired when I was looking for a 944, but the seller seemed a bit vague about the carbso I didn't want to travel the distance to find it was a shitter.

I'd had enough of that when I was looking for our S2000!!

Hi,

Thanks for your comments, have people stayed away due to the garage or the car ?

I spoke to Jaz today who had looked after the car from 2000 to 2007 and they have had quite a few callers enquiring about the service history.

I am down south by Brighton so Sheffield is mega distance to view a possible scrappy.

All I want is a 944 Turbo with Cruise and Heated Seat and this fits the bill, but don't want a un-cared for rust box.

Any more feedback would be very helpful please

cheers
Neil

Sorry, i don't know anything about the car but it strikes me as strange that it has been given a "G" suffix which is MY 89/90, nice colour looks honest enough and the first few years spent in Guernsey should help with the overall condition.

Probably has a 'G' plate because that is when it was imported into the UK (i.e. not 91/92 as the dealer says). In 'the old days' a vehicle would receive a plate from the year of import rather than the year of first registration. My Triumph Spitfire was a 1979 model (T) but when I brought it back to the UK from Germany in 1981 I received an 'X' plate. Some time later they changed the rules so that the issued plate is the year of initial registration - I don't know when this was though.

Other things to put people off is the mileage, it's not a popular colour, it's (maybe) too cheap for a Turbo. Then it's being sold by a dealer who wants to make a quick buck - if he knew anything about this particular type of car he'd do a more justified description, I mean, are they really 'staggered forged alloys'?

Just buy it and take a risk..... practically everything is repairable. Just check when the clutch (minimum £800 job) and the belts were changed.

That's my bit, for what it's worth, but there are other more knowledgeable people on here who can correct my comments if they're wrong.

Itll be a mistake. It isnt common but Ive seen it happen enough times. Plates should be age related from when they introduced the registration prefix. The 1979 Spitfire will have been registered on the current letter, as that was how they did it then. It would also have been possible to reregister it on the first of August the following year in order to obtain a Y registration mark. This would have been the last time that it could have been done though.

220k is a quite a mileage (if that's even true) unless it's had most of the suspension/brakes/bearings refreshed. I'd look on this one as a bit of a project rather than something that might only need routine servicing. £2k is more like it, which is perhaps what it owes the trader.
