Difficult to value this, so please help.

I am prepping my car with a view to selling.
I want a Z3 coupe as a new project and I have had this a long time.. Its done many reliable miles and has taken me round Europe.
Its an odd one and I may be better off breaking as at the end of the day, it says Lux on the logbook and not Turbo.

I am now doing the water pump and belts ect.. its just had all filters, plugs all fluids inc gearbox oil ect... and clutch is 2 yrs old.

The car -
The base car is a 1986 2.5 Lux in black in VGC. It has 125k on it and 4 owners. Some history (but not relevant tbh-read on)
It has full tool kit, hand books, working clock, tyre compressor, un cracked dash scripted handles, blah blah..

The interior is Porsche script, mint condition Sports seats (no wear to bolters) electric and heated. Matching rear seat in correct full cloth. Only lower rear seat as there is a period rear roll cage fitted with diagonal bar. Carpets/door trims ect are perfect.
80s momo steering wheel, original Blaupunkt head unit.

The engine has been turbo charged, it uses a rebuilt K26/8, early forged rods, n/a cam and quite a few other mods.

The gearbox is a 931 dogleg, this includes rear beam fitted with 25.5mm torsion bars, 14mm roll bar alloy arms & rare early offset 944 turbo rear brakes.

MO30 Koni coil over struts, 26.8mm roll bar, Turbo front brakes. all with recent wheel bearings/bushes/pagid pads ect..
Wheels are 17" x 8.5 and 10, Azev (suit the car better than Porsche wheels imo) in correct offset with no spacers or bodge. Spare wheel is a 964 item to fit over the brakes. (also has bilstein jack and wheel brace)
Everything works on the car down to the bonnet and glove box light oh , and new bonnet and boot struts.
It has a 924 turbo bonnet, with gas struts, non foglight spoiler, turbo rear valance, newish bumper lights..
The underside is clean and rust free.

I built it as a Ruf BTR (a car I felt should have been made but wasn't) It has an original Ruf badge from a yellowbird on the back (you can't buy these) and Ruf decal on the tacho, and the 5 digit plate ending in BTR. all mods are using period or factory parts.

Its also fast, with a poor launch it did 12.9 1/4 mile @ 114mph! I was quicker than a new M3 on the day and the time is equal to the same era Countach 5000. (yes, using factory parts, the 944 would have been a legend if they wanted it to)

So, I missed some things I expect but what sort of value? and in bits or as a whole? Its had a few mag features and Porsche GT described it as one of the best modifies 80s Porsches in the UK.
Its been advertised before but the values have changed a bit now, it was defo worth more in bits before.
It may be a bad time to sell as things seem to be moving with 944 prices.

Wow! I just read through the Rennlist thread, you didn't go with the 924 Turbo front pannel then?

That is an absolutely gorgeous 944, I am sure that there are many forum members who will agree with me...please, please do not break it! There will be someone out there who will take it off your hands. Why are you selling it? You could mothball it for a year or two while you do your BMW project, then get it back on the road.. :)

Im not rich enough, I need funds from this for the next car.
I have tried to sell before, but its never been in good enough order - that what im working on now.

I love this but its not what I need, also it would pain me to break it, but if that's where the £ is....

This is not a For Sale thread, I just thought UK 944 people would give an idea of what to expect.

So you recon it is worth more in parts? :bounce:

I tried to price it up, but some of the parts are so rare, there is nothing to compare in the UK.
I have never seen mint heated sports seats for sale or a full dogleg set up. I would think it would all go eventually down to the tool kit and clock, first thing is going to be the wheels.
I was told the cage came from a works 924.

that is the question... if its not a lot, il need to wait a bit longer. The longer I wait the cheaper the BMW will be.
But it would be nice to clarify value with experts/buyers so I know what to spend haha!

I would find it extremely disappointing to see this broken for parts. You've put it together very tastefully. The individual parts are not one-offs, but the complete car is. Surely that makes it worth more complete?

So the question is really what it would take to buy it rather than what its worth. Its a unique and very well modified car and therefore demands a unique price.

I agree with Steve. I dont know what Id pay for it but you certainly know what youd accept.

Vendors are usually reluctant to suggest a price because theyre concerned that someone would have offered more, but it never works that way unless people regularly make decent offers for the car.

Of course, your ideal price may be low in our opinion, but even if thats the case, the worst that can happen is that someone will offer to buy it at the price that you wanted... :D
