As you have asked for opinions, I am sure you will get them on this particular subject!

For my 2p worth, I have gotten the best results using NGK copper core plugs. They are pretty cheap, but seem to suit the 16V pretty well. I believe that the engine and its supporting electrics was designed for this type of plug (albeit from Bosch), and so responds well with straight copper. There are more exotic metals now available, but they have different characteristics such as resistance and temperature range, etc. I am sure that people have had varying results with them, but they can be expensive and fail to perform...(been there, done that a bit).

Expect several differing point of view here, but the above is my observation to-date for typical road use...I do not track, so cannot advise there at all!

I have tried various plugs both exotic and none exotic, I did not see any improvement one way or another to the standard copper NGK ones I have in now which from memory were around £10 a set last year from eBay.

Yup use NGK in all my cars when I do the swapping. For some reason 944 plugs seemed to die at around 12K miles, irrespective of how it was driven. Maybe to do with the ignition system. The big bore is very sensitive to ignition.

Run a selection of pre war aston martin race cars, all of which run on bog stock NGKs and are pretty much the fastest 2L in the world. B8ECS

The multi electrode plugs are for nothing more than life really. If it had three electrodes it will last three times longer (Is the theory)

I want the japs to hurry up and finish their laser ignition projects, then we will see some progress! Make the explosion happen exactly where we want it to then

In my S2 I tried NGKs, Nology Silvers (these came with the second engine) and the Bosch plugs.

If I am honest, it possibly started better on the NGKs and Nology silvers. Stock NGKs gapped correctly shoupduld do the job.

If you really wish to 'upgrade' the system I would check the state of the ignition leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap.
