Hi Folks! Well, once again, thank you all for replying to all my posts (the last one about tyres) - it means a lot to have interesting banter on this site, even tho we are far away! No, I'm not going to write a poem but to send a pic or two just to let you know that Porsche is well alive in SA!

My S2 in the middle of the Karoo - a transit stop for a beer and a pee! It's claim to fame is that it wasn't getting any customers, so hence the SEX, it is now noted for chicks to leave bras etc hanging around the bar etc. Frequented by many car clubs and bikers, where distances are many miles.

Will no doubt pass this way on our treck to the Old Car Show in George (amazing drive)...

Is the speed limit 120kph or 100kph on a road like that, and how is it enforced? I cant see speed cameras being too popular in a society not averse to putting a tyre on anyone/thing and setting it alight... :D

Hi Folks - well let me first thank you for your replies! Speed limits in the country (rural) is 120kms. Outside there are no speed cameras - the roads are very very long, so you just do your own thing. So cruising is about around 140ks, paddling along with the CD shuttle going, as there's no radio reception, or a nice piece of dead straight (10 miles) and then you can max it (I been on a few Porsche runs where the big motors get over 180mph!). I never hammer my S2 but I have seen a few dangerous speedo dials that frighten me a bit!! However, the passes thru' the mountains are the best!

They do have speed traps but we are 'flashed' in advance. When driving thru' (the very small) towns, we obey the limit and are courteous (60kms or less)...
Ronnies Sex Shop - I will stop there on my way to the George Old Car Show (worth a look on Google) next Feb 7th and will take a few pics of the inside and the tawdry graffiti!
I also went the to tyre shop today to get my fronts interchanged:

So, enforcement in towns/villages only? Refreshing.

Well done on the 1st place.

I like the idea of doing your own thing out of town, sounds ideal :)

Yup - Ronnies is an odd-ball spot! The Route62, which it is on, is an amazing road where even there is no cell phone reception for miles. But at Ronnies, you can just sit down and chat with a stranger next to you...
