Some of you have tracked my progress with the rather sorry 924 I own. I managed to rescue most of the front-left brakes, but the front-right was a pig to get the caliper off, and the backing plate / dust shield nearly fell apart after I unbolted it.

I have read that these are NLA from Porsche, although Porscheshop sell them for an unattractive £70 each. Does anyone have a spare 1 or 2? Front-right more important. Any condition has to be better than mine!

TIA

Throw them in the bin, quite a few of my cars have run without them.

Interesting idea Jim! What were Porsche intending to protect from brake dust? My 944 seems to throw plenty of brake dust the other side all over the wheel rim.

I'd agree with Jim, used to be standard in the 70's and 80's when the damn things rusting off just before the body dissolved! :D

Read somewhere that the reason Porsche fitted them was to Rust, Rattle and Fall off - They certainly do that with Germanic efficiency!

I was fortunate enough to get a set a couple of years back for about £16.00 each new...the price today is just plain stupid. Are there not any other similar designs that might work from the Audi/VW stable - with a little 'modification'?

I'll just omit them from the 924. This car only needs to be functional. The ones on the 944 still seem to be mostly rust-free!
