Just off to pick some 17" Boxster wheels up to put on my S2, will I need shims on the front or are these a direct fit?

996 wheels? The 6"x16" Boxster fronts need a narrow spacer to clear the calipers (the 7" rears dont), but to the best of my knowledge the 7" 996 C2 wheels will fit without the addition of a spacer. I have them fitted to my Turbo.

They're Boxster 2001/2 winter wheels, 17x7 ET55 fronts 17x8.5 ET48 rears.

My D90's are in need of a proper refurb, found a couple of the tyres have a bit of flat spot from when the car was sat for 3 years so they need to come off, the other wheels have good rubber and come up cheap so they'll kill 2 problems for now.

They're in the boot of the car now so I'll find out after a brew :D

Id laugh, but I cannot always identify the wheels which re fitted to my own car. Pre-watercooled: no problem. Post-watercooled and I need part numbers and photographs!

I have nearly bought additional wheels to match the 996 C2 wheels fitted on two occasions, only to find out that they were different...

I believe that no 17" front wheel will need a spacer.

Thanks for your input, I'd be happy if I had a tiny % of your knowledge you've probably forgotten more than most of us will ever know!

They've gone on, no shims needed :bounce:

That's kind of you to say so, but I think that Ive forgotten most of the useful stuff and I have remembered lots of barely useful trivia.

Did I mention that I had fitted a 7" rear 16" Boxster wheel onto the front of my Turbo and that it didn't need a spacer unlike the 6" ET50 front wheel?
