Hullo again!

I've been thinking of switching out the seats on my S2. There's two main reasons for this.

1) I find the seats sit too high for me, which isn't the ideal driving position, plus my head occasionally brushes the ceiling. 2) The bolsters don't really hug me in, so when cornering hard I find myself more in the middle of the car!

Also, the weight loss would be nice as I imagine some aftermarket seats lacking all the electric motors would help.

Seats that look period specific would be ideal, but of course they would have to be the real deal, not ebay generics.

Thing is, I've got a Champagne Velour interior (cream seats carpets), so I dunno if black seats will clash.

On a ending note, the best seats I've ever used in my life were the Recaros from a VW Corrado, which I threw into a VW Polo. Very form hugging, and incredibly comfortable.

Replacement seats will look alright if you replace the rears with black vinyl. You could use the rears from a 968 Sport, but these are half carpet with pads and the carpet colour might not work.

Black mats will help the black seats to blend in and they will oook quite smart with a black or split colour (with black) dash.

There's an idea.

The dash and door cards are a split black/cream color, the floor mats and carpet are black with red piping.

Perhaps replacing the rear seats with black would be ideal and then go with a pair of more modern black Recaros.

Porsche seats are recaro as well. The rail desgin is very low. How tall are you? The more you push the seat back the more head hight you get. I went for a short trip in ferrari california on the door sides the roof feels very low. I'm 5.10" seats were rock hard on the back, more so you feel the power then comfort. Inside is very my same size as 944 with some shelfs in the back.

I change my seats for 996 seats all Porsche seats will fit with slight work. But there not as low a rail desgin as your current ones. I went for navy blue with the intention off redye black with my cream rears. I had same colour set up as you and with the rears down I found the colour got liveable
With most people just assuming the blue seats where black

You can get seat rising blocks so there's a chance these have been fitted in the past. Unless yours 6.4" with short legs and long body I think the 944 should accommodate you. Most people find the steering wheel is to low.

That's a good point, double check that there are no spacers under the rails.

I feel that these seats can go very low, and that's coming frothemm an MX5 with Sparco Sprint's mounted as low as you could get them.

However, I have considered going for some 'Sport' seats for the same reasons you mentioned, better bolster support. I also have a light carpet & interior linen/grey pinstripe interior with the black/beige dash - and I think black seats will go nicely.
Shame they're pretty pricey though!!

It's funny, until I sat in one I laways hated the look of the black pinstripe interiors, but now I've bought a red car with a light interior, I often wish it was black!!

Im 6' 3" (nearly) and I can sit in any series two drivers seat with plenty of headroom. The only way that I would have a problem would be if the front and rear height adjustment was fully up.

Its possible that something has been retro-fitted, but to the best of my recollection the spacers were only fitted to series one cars.

DarrylH that looks spot on, better than the standard beige/grey seats that reside in the car usually!

I think what I'd really like is a rear seat delete which had the correct carpet color, but it seems everyone who does the 968 CS style carpet does it in black only. I guess I'll keep searching for a black rear seat set.

Also going to throw in a 350mm Momo or OMP wheel. Really am not the biggest fan of the larger 4 spoke porsche one! Digs into my hands like nobody's business!

Cheers :)

Could you not get a rear seat delete re-trimmed using a bit of boot carpet from another car?

That is certainly an option.

I'm of two minds. Do I go ahead and get rid of the arguably useless rear seats, or get them out of the car? I'm guessing it'll affect insurance as it'll go from a 2+2 to a 2 seater.

I have taken a 968CS rear carpet/seat in and out of mine twice and my insurers didnt bat an eyelid. Originals were manufactured in black only and the D9 copy is black too, although it doesnt really match. That may work if you retain the linen side carpets but replace the load deck carpet with black (or dye it).

For black seats to look 'right' in a car which originally had linen trim (or grey-beige / light grey), I think that you need a rear seat to match the front seats. Otherwise it looks like you have a pair of wrong colour seats fitted. With the matching front and rears and black mats it looks original.

I believe that this colourway could be ordered, although I have only seen it once or twice and cant be certain that it was original.

I am 6'1" and my Son is 6'4" and we both can manage without hitting our heads on the roof with the seats down to the lowest setting, you must be either very tall or like mentioned maybe there are some spacers fitted to the rails, I put those on my 924S for my Mother in Law when she used the car for a year.

Am I the tallest so far at 6'5"???

I have no issues even with a 36" inside leg. The best solution for me is not to have the seat on its lowest setting at the front, but tilted back to get some support under my thighs.

Anyone taller than me I wonder?
