I'm in the process of restoring a 944 s2 i bought off here(some people should leave cars alone. The previous owner was a romancer, looking at the posts he put on here, he had only done at most 20% of what he claimed. He'd even refitted the front calipers upside down, god knows how he bled them, good job it was cheap)
The drivers sill is done(waiting for stock on passenger) ,new drivers front wing, other side is mint, as new fog lights, i've done a complete brake overhall, pistons ,painted, pads, discs, braided lines ,Abs pump (bought from America, it looks like brand new :). I've replaced the cam chain tensioner and pads. Leads, cap, rotor, coil. Blasted and painted the cam cover. Replaced the 911 front seats with original script seats (i've had these refurbished) Will get the belts done by Hartech, then get a promax chip. I've bought a cat replacement pipe off them and a cargraphic back box from Germany (awaiting del), to replace the abortion off an exhaust someone else had fitted, I've fitted new front Arms, from Hartech, 968 castor mounts ,powder coated roll bar, fitted poly bushes to it .I've even painted the Arch liners , lol.
On the list is suspension. After considering coilovers, i've decided i don't want another track style car, as i already have a cosworth and a mk2 rs2000 for track use.
I'm looking at this being a GT car, which i intend to use for work , in better weather, my daily being a 4.6 X5.
I've decided to go with "Sport" koni inserts on the original struts, i'll have these powder coated yellow, after converting them. I intend to run either Spaxs or Gaz rear shockers, which are adjustable without removal (Had konis on the cossie years ago,the rears being a pain in the **** to adjust)

My question is regarding the front springs. I have had the wheels refurbished, 17 inch cup 1's and these fill the arches nicely without the car being lowered.
Can i use the original springs, which i'll have powder coated, or do i have to run lowered springs , having cut the legs down ?

Hi,

I had to read your post a couple of times, but I think I have the jist..

You have obviously read that when using the koni inserts in the 944 S2 struts you have to cut the top of the strut off, and you are wondering if you need to use a lowering spring in this setup.

Using the koni insert will not effect the ride height, either actual or effective, so you can use any spring you want.. If you are happy with the current ride height, then you can just use your current springs.

Sounds like you have a good project on the go, and it should reward you as a great car when done.
