Hello all,
The clutch fluid in my reservoir is a very dark colour & I would like to flush through with new fluid.
Has anyone done this work.
Do you have a step by step guide?

Hi, yes I have done this many times. I would recommend some form of pressurised bleeder to prevent air from getting into the system, as once it gets in it can be a problem to get out. I have used the Gunson Eazibleed. This is pretty cheap and available on eBay, etc.

If you follow the instructions provided, it works a treat. Simply attach to a suitably deflated tyre (to get the required pressure), check for air leaks, fill the eazibleed tank with your chosen fluid, pressurise the system and again check for leaks, then carefully open the clutch slave bleed nipple and out comes the old crud!

Keep checking the fluid level in the tank, stop and top up when necessary.

I've also been wondering this. I have an Eezibleed, so that is no problem, but where is the bleed nipple? Do you access it from above or below?

Hi, the bleed nipple is on the end of the slave cylinder mounted on the bottom of the bellhousing just above the starter motor. Here is a photo, you need to access it from underneath.



Always a good idea to remove the connections on the battery to prevent your spanner touching any of the starter terminals. To make life easier, you may want to drop the starter, much easier to access then.

Ha..just reread my advice "Always a good idea to remove the connections on the battery to prevent your spanner touching any of the starter terminals", ------ disconnecting the battery will not actually stop your spanner touching the starter terminals, but it will stop you shorting the battery out if you accidently do! Opps I had my Muppet head on there..

It is also a small hex size, I think it is 6 or 7mm

.....or invest in a Mityvac. I bought mine when I was chasing vacuum leaks on the central locking on my early 928. It came with a brake/clutch bleeding attachment. i've necer had any issue bleeding systems since.
