Does anyone know if early 944's and the turbo/s2 bonnets are interchangeable? |

Strictly no. In the past this has caused some tantrums when people have looked at PET and argued that series one and series two cars share the same part number, but this is because the original 944 bonnet (actually a 924 bonnet with a 477 part number) is NLA and has been superceded by the series two part. There are several 924 derived bonnets and you can fit any pattern to any car, but it wont be ideal. Off the top of my head we have: 1: 924 bonnet which uses a metal prop 2: 924 bonnet which uses gas rams, which was used on the series one 944 3: 931 bonnet which uses gas rams and has a NACA duct on the off side 4: 944 series two bonnet The principal difference between style two and style four is that the bracing is in a different place. Its intended to provide an element of fire protection and it follows the line of the bulkhead, which was changed on the series two 944. It will fit, but it wont be right. |

Just to be clear, all series two bonnets are similar. Any 944 built from September 1985 onwards, with an oval dash is a series two and this includes Turbos and S2s. Simon |

Thanks for that, so if I've understood that an s2/turbo bonnet would technically fit my '86 oval dash lux, but the bulkhead seal would be in the wrong place so therefore a no no is that correct? |

Not quite: an S2 or Turbo bonnet will be identical to an original 1986-oval dash cars bonnet. |

I was looking for a turbo bonnet recently and a dismantler that had various bonnets available and no reason to say otherwise was quite sure the S2 and turbo bonnets had a slightly different profile on the leading edge. |

Can't understand y that would be ture. Iv personally fitted turbo front on oval dash car and the bonnet meet perfectly with the turbo badge pannle. The actual pannle fittment was better then my current turbo |

Yep, done exactly the same and it all lines up real nice. Perhaps the breaker was getting confused with the badge panels? They are definitely different profile for Turbo/S2 cars (at the front). |
