I thought i'd try and ort out two irritations that have been with the car since bought her seven years ago.
Firstly the sunroof, whilst it opens and closes and the arms retract for removal. it does not work as per Porsches instructions. The operating buttons only work when the key is in the ignition and the ignition is turned on.
I've checked out the whole system and found that the microswitch operating dog on the end of the roof operating cable has snapped, stoping the microswitches from being operated. I could just live with it but I would like the roof to operate as designed....so the search is on for a good part.
Next the heated rear window has never worked. Electrics are not my key strength, I have a basic understanding but that's it. The mirrors heat up so i guess the system works. I checked the output for the rear window as per Clarkes but could not get a volt reading. However, if I removing the right hand wire, the thinner wire (looking from the back to the front of the car), the interior lights turn off.
There is no power read out on either side, so i guess the right is acting as an earth for the lights and the window?
As the mirrors heat up, there is power and the relay must be working, so what should i do next? Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
Jon
