hi all as a newbie on here and only just buying my 944 i am having a bit of trouble with the indicators i have spent the last couple of days searching for my problem which is
when i put my indicator on all 4 come on which makes driving to work a bit awkward looking at all the posts bad earth seems to be coming up all the while . the relay i assume works both the indicators and hazards
When i bought the car i noticed the rev counter was not working working and i think the chap said he had the dash out to do a bulb
and was working the other day he said ?
when i finish my shift i hopefully want to get this sorted so any pointers would be helpful
im not nimble enough to get my head under the foot well area to look up
thanks

I don't know much about this problem specifically, but purely from the perspective of logical electrics, it sounds like something is joining all your indicator circuits together, so maybe a bad earth, short circuit, or dodgy wiring?

Hopefully someone else will be along with direct suggestions on what you can do.

still cant get to the bottom of this i have tried to day to get to the earth points the only ones i have managed to do are the one by nsr indicator and the nsf
the osf one i assume i either have to move washer bottle or pos headlamp motor as i cant get my hand in,
iv had the dash out and gave the connectors a clean to see if that fixed the rev counter but it has not(any one know where it gets its signal from )??
if i were to get 4 long pieces of wire and wrap them round the bulbs or lights and put wires direct to batt earth and tried it would it work or would whatever is causing all flashers to come on still make them all come on ?
thanks

Have you checked the condition of the indicator relay and its mounting base in the fuse box? Could be a bad contact or even damp inside causing a short to earth, you could also have a bad contact on the indicator stalk.

thanks for the reply David because the hazards are working i assume the relay is good as i assume its more of an on off contact i took the stalk off but only cleaned the connecters on rear i didn't try and open it up and clean it according to the wife when i picked it up they were working when i first drove off , i think when i went to view the car i may have just put the hazards on to check the lights so i will just persevere looking if the weather holds off

I would still check the relay. Often the relay box of the relay can actually house two relays in one box :).

Failing that I would be checking over the dashboard connections to the dashboard.

as far as i can tel its just a standard flasher relay 3 leg like this one which i asume just turns on and off ,
while looking at the wiring diagram im gonna trace the earth to the ciggarett lighter as that does not work also, but is on the same earth section as flashers thats if im looking at the right diagram , when i finish me night shift
nice drivin to work just have to avoid corners lol

took out dash and switches again today looking for faulty earths ect while it was pissing down and lost my little leaver extension that attaches to flap and dash part for heater , took out all relays and cleaned then took out fuse box holder and found a few scotch locks and a broken soldered wire just in a bit of insulation tape attached to a twice as big wire ,tep joined back together
hey presto indicators working as they should .
however while taking out dash i could hear a constant drip coming from somewhere but couldn't see it so while putting back dash /wheel ect and looking for little plastic thing the rear floor and seats behind passenger side are very wet so poss sunroof seals or something but will check window seal first ref (so it wasen't the bloody sunroof seal )
gonna do back box when rain stops next and do a proper repair on wire
