Mine has a manual switch, is it possible you knocked it?

probably the temperature switch/sensor in the radiator which controls fans.

As Eddie says it could be the switch, mine wasn't it was a knackered relay that kept it on.

I would check the switch as the rest said. Before you go out and buy a new one I would attempt to take the plug off the switch, thus in theory causing the fans to turn off.

When I got my switch from an OPC it was not all that much more over what the motor factors were offering, which at the time were no name brands (I had some fun finding a thermostat which would actually stay constant at the time....).
