Looking to buy a 924/944 to do track days in. I've come across an early 944 2.5 that looks ok in the pictures. Spoke to the chap selling briefly and the cars got around 200k on the clock, rubbish interior (not a problem) and no idea when the belts were last done.

Any hints or tips in what to look for when i go see it would be gratefully received. I'm not looking to car a car with mind bending performance just something cheap and fun to use on track as i don't want to use the 993.

I use a good indie to service the 993 so would get him to give the 944 a good service prior to use.

Cheers

FG

ONLY CONDITION MATTERS. Mileage means nothing. How many old '44s have a fully working speedo? Just depends whats been spent on it in the last 4 years. (Buy Flipatrons.)

I'd agree with JJ. If your indie mechanic can do the work to keep the engine going, the cars seem pretty solid and robust.
Look for rust along the sills as they can be a problem.
If it's an older model, you may want to check the wheels as it can be difficult to get the right offset if you want to increase the rim size.

Others may know better
