Post subject:  New member just saying hello!

Hi, I joined in April but I've been a bit slow to introduce myself! I have been the proud owner of a fantastic 2.7 Lux in Alpine white for the past 7 years and attended a few of the Tipec shows at Gaydon. I am based up north in Gateshead so it is a good run out for my weekend toy once a year. I bought my 944 from a TIPEC member and it has been a fantastic buy, and the best car I have ever owned, so thanks Clive!

I have not had much time to enjoy the car for the past couple of years due to work commitments and a new baby of the human kind, and was even considering selling up! I have come to my senses now and decided its time to give it a light restoration so expect lots of questions over the next couple of week... So please help as I have never had to do anything apart from standard maintenance over the past seven years.

Cheers, Simon :D

Welcome Simon! It's nice to hear of your long-term relationship with your 944 8)

I think it would be rude of you not to put some pictures up of the baby (the car kind!) for us all to look at

Enjoy your time here

Thanks Andy, I'll get some pics sorted as soon as I can as I know it is a sin not to post pics of everything on this forum, thanks for the reply,

Hi Simon,
Glad you made it onto this Forum (at last!) Congratulations on the Baby and of course on deciding to keep the 944.
Tipec Hatton 27 May 2012 What a pleasant surprise to see my 1st 944 Porsche; just as I was taking some photos you arrived, another surprise. (still the same owner).
Unfortunately I cannot find the Photos I took on the day but I do have some going back to when you would have 1st seen the car -Tipec Walton Hall 17 Jul 2005.
+ a few mid 2004 before my purchase, also from a Tipec owner :D .

oh :?: hopefully its had new belts/rollers etc since you bought it  (may be prudent to get a new water pump & head gasket - just had mine done on the Turbo (after owning it 7+ years)
btw does the rear hatch still lift up on the auto electric release :), fond memories of a lovely car, really glad you have had a super experience with her (GUPPY)

All the very best Simon > see you at Gaydon ? 8th Sept
Clive

Hi Clive!i was hoping you would spot me on the forum. Guppy is as good as it was the day you sold it to me, and yes the boot release still works the same :D the belts are being done before I start driving it again this summer so need to make some enquiries on prices etc....I was just thinking about that this morning as it is 7+ years now but I have only done around 8k miles in it since buying. It really is just a weekend toy when I get the opportunity to use her (not very often due to business taking over, but looks great in the garage).

I'm planning to take her for a run out to Silverstone on the 27th July for the anniversary of the 911 (as you know my father-in-law is a 964 owner so I will be joining the convoy if I can get the work done in time) 8) .

Some mechanical things to maintain such as belts, new brakes, tyres etc.....then some cosmetics to sort out where front wings have started to bubble ( anyone out there selling some decent front wings?).

It was great to see you last year and hopefully we will meet again soon. I'll keep you updated on the progress through the forum,

Cheers, simon
