In essence, if you're ever thinking of doing a GT project, don't. The panels are terrible!

The rear wings have turn into a bit of a nightmare. The fit quality on the front panels was bad enough and needed plenty of cutting and re-shaping but the rear wings are in a league of their own.

I the moulds have been taken off a genuine car (as is the sellers claim) they have not been taken on the car with the wing in situ but probably off the vehicle and as a result they have flexed and not given a true reflection of the original wing.
My attempts to do it 'properly' seem to have back fired in as much my method of the wing fixings has caused problems as it is inducing too much stress when the wings are fitted (as their shape is wrong) and as they are tightened, they are cracking.

just wondered if anyone knew if the cgt kit from pro9 is worth buying? the main thing is does it look right, as in a good copy of the original. I know its cheap and so I expect a bit of fettling to get it fitting right, but I just want to make sure it looks right and not cheap rubbish? porscheshop sell the same kit at £1300! it would be going on a race/track car so I don't really want to spend 1300 on something like that. apart from that, does anyone know if anywhere in the uk can supply a gtr kit?? thanks nick

Of the people I am aware of in doing this in the last 3 years, all have had a lot of fitting and fettling issues. Fine if you are doing the work yourself. You certainly wouldn't want to pay bodyshop 'rates'. Only a one or two UK purchase options unless you go to Germany or USA.

i thought it may be the case tbh, its the norm that fibreglass copy panels can be pretty dodgy! fitting and fettling myself is not an issue, my business is fabrication, but at the same time I would like the car to look half decent and would rather start with some better panels in the first place! there is a Carrera gtr I absolutely love the look of, with the different style arches, not the full overfenders, but wide eyebrow type arch extensions, its a white car with white wheels. I would love to do a copy of that, but without having a car to have a look at its hard to replicate correctly. problem with importing from usa is that the shipping is pretty ridiculous! its either find something in the uk or possibly Germany, or make the bodykit myself. I know someone who makes full aluminium bodies for old bugattis etc his work is incredible, if I can get some accurate pics or models etc then I would be able to make patterns and get him to make the panels from aluminium and they would be awesome, but its not a cheap way to do it!

that is literally awesome! and that bodykit is the exact one that I want!! the widebody 924 and 944 cars I think are some of the best looking porsches out there! although I am a massive fan of the 935 and old skool wide rsr 911's. I just need to win the lottery, and then I can make one of each of my favourite porsches lol! does anyone know if the more expensive porscheshop Carrera gt kit is a much better fit than pro9? I would hope so at twice the price!!

Try Marek at Teilecar. 937 front wings are identical to 944 wings, so you can use any good 944 GRP wings in the conversion. Their 937 rears are far better than the parts that are available here, I believe. The bumper/PU panel is going to be a difficult fit not matter where its from though, as the original soft PU material will be compliant where even the most accurate GRP facsimile will catch.
