After several weeks/months making space in my garage and fettling my 1969 Triumph TR6R Bike to MOT/sell and looking at several S2s, I finally took the plunge and bought an 1989 S2 (best overall/allround condition of the ones I viewed/tried).

It's has been off the road for a while and there are a number of things to sort out, but really enjoyed the "old school" driving experience and torquey motor getting it back home.

I wonder could I ask the experts on the forum a couple of queries to get me started on a couple of things?

Paint code on the data sheet/sticker is LY5U (a light metallic blue), but can't find that paint code in my copy of Peter Morgan's reference book? The book lists a code, U1, as Glacier Blue met, for that year which seems odd-on favourite, but no code LY5U, so just wanted to check actual colour code?.

Also options 605, 650 and 990 are listed amongst the options on the data sheet/sticker, but can't find a reference for these numbers in the book. They may be something as simple as "UK spec model" or electric windows, or such like (i.e. "standard" UK items for the 1989 model year?) , but I would be interested to know if anybody knows what those codes mean.

Technical /help queries:-
Rather annoyingly the fan has only just started to run at highest speed only  , from other topics/posts on the forum I believe soaking the resistors/rehostats in vinegar overnight to remove years of accumulated crud is the recommended first try fix, but where would I find/get at the bank of resistors that control the fan speed on an S2?

Also there is a dark grey plastic box with wires sticking out of it rattling around/dangling by the battery in the N/S left battery compartment in the boot. Not sure what this is (about the size , but not shape, of a fag packet), but I wonder if this should be attached to the body work or something to stop it rattling around? I could just tape it too something in the battery compartment, but I just don't know what it is / what it does / where it's supposed to be.

There lots of other little things to work my way through, mainly little bits/bobs of trim, some fluid changes, etc. But hopefully somebody can assist with the initial queries.

Any assistance, as always , much appreciate and gratefully received.

And I suppose zcacoqp / Oli is now due the beer I promised him if/when we get a chance to meet 8)

A quick google says LY5U/U1 is Glacier Blue Metallic.

Boxes in nearside rear cubby are part of the alarm/immobiliser and should be attached to the bodywork just in front of the battery:

Mr Tarrant, many thanks.

I feel a little foolish  as you found more on google in 5-10 minutes than I did spending an hour (and more) reading my Peter Morgan book and searching (and getting side-tracked) on various forum topics/threads.

I'll have a look and see what the alarm box could attach to, but it just seems to be hanging/dangling loose on it's wires.

I'll also be digging out the malt vinegar over the week to have a go at the resistors.

tried to but couldn't load any pictures into this reply, so I'll be spending some time searching the forum "how to" to try and get a picture or two loaded.

many thanks again for your help.

Couldn't load pictures before from my computer, have had to join public photo sharing site like Flkcr or Tindr or something, so here are a couple for people to swipe left or right
