I've been trying to get my passenger window to work for over a year now but no luck.

It worked when I got the car but very slowly and smoked so I hardly moved it.

I greased up the runners and then it was dead.

I thought it could be the motor or switches but when I put a meter on it I found no voltage at the connector end when I pressed the switch, cleaned and swapped the switches around with drivers switch which works so not the switch.

The mirror is dead too but again drivers side works.

Tried shaking the wires to see if there is a lose connection but that didn't work.

Could it be a relay somewhere surely it's not that complicated

Door loom.

+1, the loom flexes when the door is open/closed and the wiring inside the insulation breaks, do a continuity check on the door wiring loom

Its odd how common faults change with time. 15+ yrs ago no one needed door looms and very few people needed window switches, but scores of people needed electric regulators.

Drivers sides particularly were rare and I used to sell them for £75-£100, which was a keen price! Imagine that now... Motors burnt out but this was due to the gearboxes seizing, so complete units were required.

Since Ive become interested in FrontRunners again I have hoarded electric regulators but I dont think that I have ever actually needed one.

Thanks guys I'll check the loom out I've left the door card off as I'm sick of taking it off and putting it back on again, I'm determined to get to the bottom of this fault.

mine failed - it went down then wouldnt go up ,it would go down fine and once it got the bottom I was stuck with a window completely open all day on a day out lol

when I got home the fault was found ,it was the drivers side switch for the passenger side window ,I swapped it around with the drivers window switch and it worked fine and went up ,but after buying a new switch it seems to work fine again ,I carry the new switch and my phillips screw driver just in case

Went through the loom up to the connector in the door post and no power.

Don't know where the loom goes next I could try the relay does anyone know where it is, must be under the dash somewhere it's not by the fuse box.

I managed to get the window working tonight :D

I spent ages trying to find why there's no voltage even moved the relay and fuse box to get behind and try and trace the loom but gave up as the amount of wires there is incredible.

Decided to connect the window direction wires directly to the fuse with a spade to give me power the brown ground wire stayed in the connection block as it was fine but I joined the two red wires (up & down) with a spade and run it through the fuse for protection.

Works fine now :D except I can't open the window from the drivers door switch as I bypassed it.
