Post subject:  problems with a 944 s2

hello, ive got a problem with my 944 s2 and was hoping someone out there could help.

i went to work onfriday morning, car took a while to start, but it had been sitting for a few weeks.

when i finnished, went to start the car and nothing happend, a friends sugested it could be the plugs, so one trip to halfrauds later, and a new set of plugs were in, but still not starting

checked that the plugs were gettin spark, and there was a strong smell of fuel from the plugs when they were removed (both sets)

has anyone got any ideas about what could be causing this?

as ive only had the car a year, and its ran fantasicly but this is the first problem i have had, and its snookered me!
:(

Hello, Everyones away at Gaydon. Until they get back. http://www.clarks-garage.com/ Have a look at the faq. My. You need to check it out methodically. Have you taken the distributor cap off for a look? Is the rotor arm properly screwed on? Chances are it's somthing simple. :)

Hi,

Sounds like a faulty DME relay sometimes you can pull it out and tap it and try again if no joy i would replace this with another one 1st before doing anything else.

Good luck.

fuse box under bonnet on passenger side just under windscreen, check to see if rev counter needle bounces when cranking engine, if not crank sensors

right, got in to work this morning, went to start her, and low and behold, she started :D. But, she is now running like a bag of bolts :( :?
idle was all over the place, had to blip the throtle to keep it from dying. it did settle, after 2 minutes, but was still not running properly :(

will check that, since my last post, i have taken the relay down to my local auto electrion, he checked it, and he said it was fine! so its gettin dropped off there for a full check of everything, well, thats assuming i can keep it running long enough to get it there.

right, called the insurance, as i have brakedown recovery, guy had look, turned it over, and noticed petrol spewing up from the bowls of the engine  so its now in a garage, which will hopefully get that sorted, and its going to get serviced at the same time. just got to wait on the bill :(

sounds like a split fuel pipe but could be anything. well you will have it running soon altho the bill would be in the 1000's haha just kidding. providing the brakes and everything els is fine all they will need to change is the oil and filter. so you wont be hit that hard :D

well, the garage phoned today, and broke some rather bad news, the bill for repairs are £400   the diaphram on the fuel pump was away  will post more details when i pick the car up tommorrow.

but the car should be running like new(ish) now, so i suppose every cloud and all that.
