Replacing the headlining.

I managed this before with my previous lux but the roof of the current one looks like Edward Scissorhands has been at it.

I cant for the life of me remember where I got the replacement headlining from before :?:

Has anyone found a suitable replacement? I gather 4 way stretch material is best. I would be interested to hear other peoples recommendations.

Southbound

It is about £40 but has every fixing point marked it is really easy to fit, I would buy some of the proper adhesive from them about £5 I think.

cut it out, screw it up using the marked locations ...then glue and strench into place use a hair dryer in the corners

I ordered one of these the other day. Well wrapped around a cardboard tube inside a box.

Will hopefully get time to fit it tomorrow on my day off. :blob8:

I was wondering if you cut out the headliner around the white lines before installing it?? Im not sure if cutting around the lines would be too risky ie whether they are 'generous' or not.

Call and ask! Id be extremely surprised if it was carefully thought out and well prepared though.

It is very very accurate However I cut it and allowed 1 extra inch just to be sure

Use the marked fixing holes to position it first and it will be spot on.......

Never again will I attempt to replace the headliner.

Spent pretty much all day on Thursday stripping the roof area down and trying to fit the replacement. An absolute ballache and a seriously annoying day.

I had to temporarily pin it in places at the end of the day as I needed to get the seats back in for work etc and will have to try and finish it another day.

Trying to get it to mould around the corners of the sunroof and the rear windows in particular was torture, even with our lasses hairdryer.

Honestly, if you have money, just get a professional who knows exactly what he is doing to do it.

The headliner itself from Southbound was spot on and was marked with the screw holes in all the right places etc. Its just a very tedious job to install them.

I have ended up with a few creases and slack bits that i will address on Sunday hopefully.

A bit p*ssed off!
