Just thought I would try this to see if anyone is considering selling their 944, I have just got my licence back after having had brain cancer last year, and was hoping to get another 944, however the market has changed since then.

I have been looking for a while, but apart from cars being very long distances away, many are just way over priced and this is reflected by the fact many are just not selling, (although people may be prepared to negotiate, my experiences of this have never been positive, after once years ago nearly being thrown out of a house for asking for £50 off a car with a badly leaking oil sender,) or in some cases on Ebay the person not paying for or contacting the seller after buying it.

I was really hoping for an S2, but other models may appeal eg 2.7, the 944S, I only want an oval dash model, something needing some renovation is fine but must be roadworthy and useable, and not rotten/mouldy prefer not Red or White, but if the deal is right may go that way.

I was thinking of spending around £4k, this is cash in the bank, no messing about, no Ebay fees or phantom buyers, can pay by bank transfer or even sacks of £1 coins if particularly wanted. I am on the south coast in Hastings, I don't mind travelling but John O Groats is a bit too far even for me.

If not then I will spend the money on something else, because I just do not consider £6k plus on cars with 150 000 + miles worth it.

(thats just a couple, ive no connection to either, nor have i seen them in the flesh)

the price of the good ones is going up though, you have to be very careful when looking at them at the areas that rot, sills, floors, rear suspension mounting, lower wings, rear quarter lower areas

cars that seem sound on the face of it, or even have a fresh MOT may not be what they seem, its very easy to hide rotten sills with stone chip paint, fibreglass etc so be very careful as its not a cheap job to repair, same with front wings for the s2 and turbo, currently £750 ish each at porsche, and second hand ones in good nick very rare to see

I had seen the black one, I might consider chasing that, does anyone know that one ?, I find a fair few are for sale through dealers who try to hide the detail around issues like cam belts etc, oh it was done 5000 miles ago but if you dig they are years out of date.
